Wide Coverage Across Cities and Centres
The National Testing Agency (NTA) organized the examination at 180 centres spread across 28 cities in the state. Major urban locations such as Vijayawada, Visakhapatnam, Guntur, and Tirupati were among the key hubs where candidates appeared in large numbers. The arrangements were closely monitored to maintain order and ensure a fair testing environment.
Approximately 75,000 candidates had registered for the exam this year, with nearly 58,000 turning up on the day. Officials confirmed that all centres operated smoothly, with no reports of malpractice or disturbances. Security measures and supervision were strengthened to uphold the integrity of the examination process.
Strong Attendance Across Districts
In NTR district, 11,345 candidates attended the exam out of 11,496 registered, resulting in an attendance rate of 98.69 percent. Similarly, Krishna district reported 742 candidates appearing out of 763 registrations across two centres.
Tirupati district also witnessed a high turnout, with 4,415 candidates present out of 4,542 registered, marking attendance of over 97 percent. Officials attributed these numbers to effective communication, timely arrangements, and improved awareness among aspirants.
Strict Enforcement of Guidelines
Authorities implemented NTA’s guidelines rigorously at all centres. Candidates were required to follow a prescribed dress code, and entry rules were strictly monitored. Late arrivals were not allowed under any circumstances, even if the delay was minimal.
Additionally, candidates were prohibited from wearing items such as earrings, nose rings, chains, or other accessories inside the examination halls. Officials stated that these measures were necessary to maintain uniformity and prevent unfair practices.
Entry Denied Over Dress Code Sparks Concern
An incident in Eluru drew attention when a female candidate was denied entry at a municipal school examination centre near the Durga Temple. According to reports, she was stopped at the gate for not adhering to the dress code requirements.
Witnesses said the student became visibly distressed and requested permission to take the exam. However, invigilators refused entry, citing strict instructions to follow the rules without exception. The situation attracted concern from parents and others present at the centre.
The episode has reignited discussion about the rigid enforcement of dress code norms and whether a more balanced approach could be adopted in such situations.
Smooth Conduct in Ongole Centres
In Ongole, the examination was held across six centres and proceeded without any disruptions. Out of 1,728 registered candidates, 1,681 appeared for the test.
District Collector P Raja Babu visited key centres, including Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya and Kendriya Vidyalaya, to review arrangements, security measures, and facilities provided to candidates. Other officials, including RDO Lakshmi Prasanna, accompanied him during the inspection.
Authorities expressed satisfaction with the overall conduct of the examination, noting that coordination between departments played a crucial role in ensuring a seamless experience for candidates.
Focus on Fair and Transparent Examination
Officials emphasized that maintaining transparency and fairness remains a priority in national-level entrance exams like NEET. The smooth conduct across Andhra Pradesh reflects the effectiveness of planning, adherence to guidelines, and cooperation among various administrative bodies.
At the same time, incidents such as the one reported in Eluru highlight the need for ongoing discussions about balancing strict regulations with sensitivity toward students.
