According to Joshi, the Prime Minister conveyed deep admiration and personal respect for Yediyurappa, describing him as one of the party’s most committed leaders. In his written remarks, Modi stated that Yediyurappa’s public life reflected years of struggle, sacrifice, and commitment to the welfare of ordinary citizens. He said the occasion was not only significant for Karnataka but also inspirational for BJP workers across the country.

Modi Recalls Long Association With Yediyurappa

The Prime Minister noted that he had worked closely with Yediyurappa over several years and had witnessed both challenging and successful phases of his political career. Modi described him as hardworking, humble, and deeply connected to the people of Karnataka.

He added that despite occupying top political positions, Yediyurappa remained approachable and continued to maintain strong ties with grassroots workers and common citizens. According to Modi, this quality earned him lasting respect among party cadres and the public alike.

Contribution to BJP’s Expansion in Karnataka

In the message, Modi highlighted Yediyurappa’s key role in strengthening the Bharatiya Janata Party in Karnataka during its formative years. He said the former Chief Minister travelled extensively across the state when the party had limited presence and faced political challenges.

The Prime Minister credited him with building organisational support at the booth level and motivating party workers during difficult periods. He further remarked that Yediyurappa played an important part in broadening the BJP’s appeal beyond traditional regional boundaries, helping establish the party as a national political force with support across different parts of India.

Focus on Farmers and Rural Development

Modi also praised Yediyurappa’s administrative record during his tenure as Karnataka Chief Minister. He pointed to his emphasis on agriculture, irrigation projects, rural infrastructure, and welfare measures for farmers.

The Prime Minister particularly referred to the introduction of a separate agriculture budget during Yediyurappa’s leadership, describing it as a notable initiative aimed at addressing the concerns of the farming community. He said the policies implemented under his government had created a lasting impact on rural Karnataka and strengthened his image as a prominent farmer leader.

Efforts for Social Welfare Highlighted

Apart from agriculture, Modi acknowledged Yediyurappa’s work for socially and economically weaker sections. He said the senior leader supported programmes related to housing, education, and skill development while also paying attention to women’s welfare and aspirations.

The Prime Minister further noted that Yediyurappa maintained a strong emotional connection with Karnataka’s culture, traditions, and people throughout his political career. According to him, the veteran leader consistently worked towards the state’s development and dignity beyond electoral politics.

Political Journey Described as Inspirational

Concluding his message, Modi said Yediyurappa’s five decades in public life offered valuable lessons for young political workers about discipline, patience, and perseverance. He remarked that success in public service comes through years of continuous hard work and sacrifice rather than instant achievement.

The Prime Minister congratulated Yediyurappa on reaching the milestone and wished him a healthy and long life, expressing hope that he would continue guiding future generations of political leaders and party workers.
