Project Focused on Public Health and Greenery

According to officials, the proposed oxygen park is being designed as a modern public space that combines environmental conservation with community activities. The initiative is intended to encourage outdoor recreation, support healthier lifestyles and provide a peaceful green zone for families and local residents.

During the foundation stone ceremony, the Chief Minister stated that the Delhi Forest Department had approved financial assistance of ₹1 crore for the project. She further announced that another ₹1 crore would be allocated through her MLA discretionary fund to ensure timely development and better infrastructure within the park.

Modern Facilities Planned for the New Park

Rekha Gupta instructed concerned departments and civic authorities to maintain high standards while developing the facility. She emphasized that the oxygen park should include modern amenities and be developed in a way that allows it to stand among the leading public parks in Delhi.

Officials involved in the project said the park is expected to include landscaped green areas, walking paths, seating zones and open recreational spaces aimed at promoting community interaction. The development is also likely to improve the surrounding area’s environmental quality by increasing green cover.

Government Emphasises Better Urban Living

The Chief Minister highlighted that environmental protection and improved quality of life remain important parts of the government’s broader development plans for the national capital. She noted that projects focused on greenery and public infrastructure are essential for building a healthier and more sustainable urban environment.

Speaking at the event, Gupta said the Mukhmelpur oxygen park would serve purposes beyond beautification. According to her, the facility is expected to become a centre for fitness, social engagement and positive community activities for nearby residents.

She also underlined the importance of accessible green spaces in densely populated urban areas, adding that such initiatives contribute to both physical and mental well-being.

Coordination Between Delhi Government and Civic Bodies

The Chief Minister further said that the Delhi government and the Municipal Corporation of Delhi are jointly working on expanding green infrastructure across various parts of the city. Efforts are being made to increase the number of parks and environmentally friendly public spaces to address growing urban challenges such as pollution and limited open areas.

Local residents welcomed the announcement and expressed hope that the project would improve environmental conditions in the area while also offering safe recreational options for children, senior citizens and families.

Authorities are expected to begin development work soon, with the project aimed at creating a balanced space that supports environmental sustainability alongside public use.
