Emergency – A major fire incident in Delhi’s Malviya Nagar area resulted in a large-scale medical emergency, prompting immediate action from healthcare authorities. Max Hospital confirmed that dozens of affected individuals were rushed to its Emergency Department for urgent treatment following the incident.

Casualties and Medical Assessment
According to information released by the hospital, a total of 39 people were brought in after the fire. Medical teams conducted rapid evaluations upon arrival and initiated treatment under established emergency response procedures. Many of the victims were suffering from smoke inhalation, while others sustained burn injuries and fractures of varying severity.
Hospital officials stated that despite extensive efforts by medical personnel, 18 individuals were declared dead when they arrived at the facility. The victims included both Indian citizens and foreign nationals.
Critical Patients Under Intensive Care
Among those who survived, 15 patients required admission to the Intensive Care Unit due to the seriousness of their condition. Doctors reported that eight of these patients were placed on ventilator support and continued to remain in critical condition as they received advanced medical care.
Healthcare teams from multiple specialties were deployed to manage the emergency, ensuring that patients received immediate and coordinated treatment throughout the crisis.
Treatment and Patient Transfers
The hospital also confirmed that five individuals who sustained relatively minor injuries received primary medical treatment and were later discharged. In another case, a patient suffering from severe burn injuries was transferred to Safdarjung Hospital for specialized care and further management.
Medical authorities continued to monitor the condition of those admitted, with dedicated teams working continuously to provide necessary treatment and support.
Mass-Casualty Protocol Activated
Following notification of the incident, Max Hospital activated its mass-casualty management system to handle the sudden influx of patients. Additional doctors, nurses, emergency personnel, and support staff were mobilized to strengthen the hospital’s response and ensure uninterrupted care for all affected individuals.
The hospital said its emergency preparedness measures allowed teams to respond quickly to the evolving situation and manage the large number of casualties effectively.
