TMC Projects Clear Majority in Upcoming Results

A senior leader of the Trinamool Congress (TMC), Tanmay Ghosh, has asserted that the party is set to secure a decisive mandate in the ongoing assembly elections. According to him, the party expects to win between 230 and 250 seats, indicating a comfortable majority in the state legislature.

Ghosh credited public support for the party’s optimism, stating that voters continue to stand firmly behind Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee and party leader Abhishek Banerjee. He maintained that the party’s campaign has resonated with the electorate across regions.

Remarks on Opposition Leaders Stir Debate

In a pointed remark, Ghosh suggested that prominent national figures, including Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Union Home Minister Amit Shah, would no longer be present in the state after the results are declared. His statement appeared to underline the party’s belief that external political influence would not alter the electoral outcome.

These comments come amid heightened political exchanges between the TMC and the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), both of which have been actively campaigning across the state.

Second Phase of Voting Approaches

The next phase of polling is scheduled for April 29, covering a significant number of constituencies. Voters in 142 assembly segments are expected to cast their ballots, making this phase critical in shaping the overall electoral outcome.

Election authorities have made extensive preparations to ensure smooth voting, including deployment of security personnel and monitoring teams. The high stakes involved have led to increased attention from political parties and observers alike.

Reports of Clashes Raise Concerns

As campaigning intensifies, several incidents of clashes between supporters of rival parties have been reported. In particular, tensions escalated in the North 24 Parganas district, where confrontations between TMC and BJP workers took place near a local police station.

Such incidents have raised concerns about maintaining law and order during the election period. Authorities have responded by increasing security measures in sensitive areas to prevent further unrest.

The situation gained further attention as it coincided with the scheduled visit of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, who was set to address a public gathering in the region. Political rallies and counter-rallies have contributed to a charged environment in several districts.

High Voter Turnout Signals Strong Participation

The first phase of polling, held on April 23, recorded an impressive voter turnout of over 92 percent. This figure reflects strong public engagement in the democratic process and highlights the importance of the election for residents of the state.

Officials noted that voting was conducted under strict security arrangements, ensuring that the process remained largely peaceful despite isolated incidents. The high turnout is often seen as an indicator of active political awareness among voters.

Counting Day to Decide Political Future

The results of the West Bengal assembly elections are scheduled to be announced on May 4. On the same day, outcomes from elections in Assam, Kerala, Tamil Nadu, and Puducherry will also be declared.

Political analysts suggest that the results will not only determine the future leadership of West Bengal but may also influence the broader national political landscape. Both major parties continue to intensify their efforts as the state moves closer to the final phases of voting.
