The clarification came after some students discovered that scanning a QR code printed on certain question papers redirected them to a YouTube video featuring a song by Rick Astley, briefly sparking concerns about the credibility of the paper.
Concerns Raised After QR Code Redirect
The issue surfaced when students used their phones to scan one of the QR codes printed on the question paper. Instead of leading to a verification page or official information, the scan reportedly opened a YouTube link playing a well-known music video. The unexpected redirection quickly circulated among students and on social media platforms, prompting speculation about whether the exam paper might have been compromised.
For many candidates and parents already anxious during the board examination period, the incident triggered doubts about the reliability of the paper and the overall security of the examination system.
Purpose of QR Codes on Question Papers
CBSE explained that QR codes are included on its question papers as part of a security and verification mechanism.
