DowryCase – CBI Set to Take Over Twisha Sharma Death Investigation

DowryCase –  The investigation into the death of model and actor Twisha Sharma entered a crucial stage on Monday as the Central Bureau of Investigation prepared to officially assume control of the case from the Bhopal Police Special Investigation Team (SIT). As part of the ongoing inquiry, police escorted accused Samarth Singh to his residence in Katara Hills for a reconstruction of the alleged incident connected to the May 12 dowry death case.

Crime Scene Reconstruction Conducted in Bhopal

Samarth Singh, who was arrested three days ago in connection with his wife’s alleged dowry death, was taken to the couple’s home under heavy police security. Officers from the SIT, along with personnel from Katara Hills police station, supervised the reconstruction process to better understand the sequence of events linked to Twisha Sharma’s death.

Investigators carried out the exercise shortly before a special CBI unit from Delhi was expected to arrive in Bhopal. Officials familiar with the matter said the local police have completed preparations to transfer all case-related documents and evidence to the central agency.

SIT Hands Over Key Evidence to Central Agency

Sources associated with the investigation said the SIT has compiled a detailed case diary containing digital records, documentary evidence, witness statements, and interrogation reports. These materials are expected to be formally submitted to the CBI once the agency takes over the probe.

Officials indicated that the CBI team would initially review all evidence collected by the state investigators before registering a regular case under its own procedures. The agency is also expected to visit the Katara Hills residence as part of its independent examination of the case.

The investigation is likely to be managed by a dedicated CBI unit comprising officers from both Delhi and Madhya Pradesh. Reports suggest the inquiry may be supervised by a senior officer of DIG rank.

CBI Likely to Seek Custody of Accused

According to officials, the central agency may formally assume charge either late Monday night or on Tuesday morning. Following the registration of a fresh case, the CBI is expected to seek custody of Samarth Singh, who remains in police remand until May 29.

The high-profile nature of the case has drawn significant public attention across Madhya Pradesh, particularly due to the allegations surrounding dowry harassment and the involvement of prominent individuals connected to the accused family.

Former Judge Questioned by Investigators

Bhopal Police Commissioner Sanjay Kumar confirmed that investigators have completed an initial round of questioning of former judge Giribala Singh, who has also been named as an accused in the matter alongside her son, Samarth Singh.

Sources stated that SIT officers questioned Giribala Singh at her residence late Sunday night. Earlier, investigators had reportedly issued three notices seeking her appearance for questioning, but she had not responded to them.

Her questioning is considered an important development in the investigation, especially as the case transitions from state police to the CBI.

High Court Reviews Anticipatory Bail Pleas

In a parallel legal development, the principal bench of the Madhya Pradesh High Court in Jabalpur issued a notice to Giribala Singh regarding petitions challenging the anticipatory bail granted to her earlier this month by a Bhopal district court.

Senior advocate Nitya Ramachandran, appearing on behalf of Giribala Singh, requested additional time to submit a response and urged the court to schedule the next hearing on May 29. However, the High Court fixed the matter for hearing on May 27 instead.

The upcoming proceedings are expected to play a key role in determining the legal direction of the case as central investigators continue their inquiry into the circumstances surrounding Twisha Sharma’s death.
