Donations – Tirumala Temple Records Rs 96.98 Crore Contributions From Devotees in One Day
Donations – In an extraordinary display of faith and generosity, the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams (TTD) received donations worth Rs 96.98 crore within a single day. The contributions came through official donation channels, with the overwhelming majority made by ordinary and middle-income devotees. According to the temple administration, a total of 2,460 people participated in the donation drive, including 2,354 online contributors and 106 who made their offerings through offline methods.
Revised Donation Policy Comes Into Effect
Following the significant rise in donations, the TTD Trust Board has approved a revised donation policy to improve the management of various contribution schemes and related facilities. The decision was taken during the board’s meeting held on Tuesday, and the updated policy became effective from midnight. Officials stated that the new framework is designed to simplify administrative processes, establish dedicated sub-committees for oversight, and introduce better regulation of benefits associated with different donation categories.
Majority of Contributions Came From Individual Devotees
The latest figures reveal that the largest share of donations came from a wide range of individual worshippers rather than a handful of major contributors. During the day, two devotees each donated more than Rs 1 crore. In addition, 1,246 people contributed amounts ranging between Rs 10 lakh and Rs 15 lakh, while another 1,212 devotees donated sums between Rs 1 lakh and Rs 10 lakh. The distribution of donations highlights broad public participation across different income groups.
Registered Donor Base Continues to Grow
TTD officials also shared that the number of registered donors has continued to increase steadily. As of June, the institution had 1,97,888 registered donors. The expanding donor base reflects the growing willingness of devotees to support the temple’s activities through transparent and officially recognised donation platforms.
Donations Strengthen Welfare and Religious Activities
According to temple authorities, the large collection received in a single day demonstrates the collective impact of thousands of individual offerings. While a few high-value donations contributed to the overall total, officials noted that contributions from regular devotees remain a significant source of support for the institution. These funds help sustain a wide range of charitable, social, educational, and religious programmes undertaken by the Tirumala Tirupati Devasthanams.
The administration believes that continued public trust and participation enable the organisation to carry forward its welfare initiatives while maintaining temple services and community-focused projects. The latest donation figures underline the enduring commitment of devotees who choose to contribute through official channels, ensuring that the institution can continue serving pilgrims and supporting its long-standing charitable responsibilities.
