Delhi Police – Six Held in Alleged Pakistan-Linked Terror and Arms Cases

Delhi Police – Delhi Police’s Special Cell has arrested six people in connection with two alleged terror-related networks that investigators say were being directed by handlers based in Pakistan. Police said one group was suspected of planning an attack in the national capital, while the other was allegedly involved in bringing illegal weapons into India through the border region.

Police allege planned attack on key Delhi locations

According to police, the first group was allegedly assigned to target a vital installation or a police facility in Delhi using petrol bombs. Additional Commissioner of Police (Special Cell) Pramod Singh Kushwah said the module was allegedly being handled by Rana Hunain, described by investigators as an operative linked to Pakistan’s intelligence agency ISI and an associate of Pakistan-based Shahzad Bhatti.

Police arrested two men near Vijay Ghat and said three petrol bombs and Rs 2,000 were recovered from them. The accused have been identified as Danish, also known as Chand Miya, aged 24, and Salman, aged 20. Both are residents of Muzaffarnagar in Uttar Pradesh.

Investigators said Danish had allegedly connected with Hunain through social media in April. Police claim he was asked to survey possible targets and identify a sensitive government or police location in Delhi. He was allegedly promised Rs 20,000 for completing the task.

Salman, described as Danish’s friend, had travelled to Delhi with him, police said. Investigators allege that he was instructed to record a video of the planned attack and was also promised Rs 20,000.

Second group accused of receiving smuggled firearms

The second alleged network was involved in cross-border weapons trafficking, police said. Investigators claim that the group was being operated by Hassan Gujjar, another alleged ISI-linked handler and associate of Bhatti.

According to the Special Cell, weapons were allegedly sent from Pakistan through drones and later collected by members of the network in India. Police said the money received from foreign handlers was allegedly used to support terror-related and criminal activity.

Three suspects were detained near Kalindi Kunj in Delhi, where police said they recovered three pistols and five live cartridges. Another accused was arrested in Amritsar, Punjab.

The people named in the case are Tayyab, 27, a Delhi resident; Jubair Khan, 24, and Ali Fazal, 26, both from Uttar Pradesh; and Malkiat Singh, 36, from Punjab.

Investigators trace alleged social media contacts

Police said Tayyab had allegedly established contact with Gujjar through social media. On the handler’s alleged instructions, Tayyab reportedly asked Khan to collect a shipment of sophisticated weapons and ammunition from Singh in Amritsar.

Investigators allege that Khan later passed the firearms to Fazal, who was expected to arrange their sale to buyers in Delhi or Uttar Pradesh. Police have not disclosed details about the alleged buyers or the number of weapons believed to have entered the country through the network.

Probe continues into alleged foreign links

The arrests are part of an ongoing investigation into the alleged links between the two groups and their suspected handlers across the border. Police said they are examining digital communication, financial transactions and travel details to establish the full scope of the alleged operations.

Authorities have also not released information about whether any additional suspects are being pursued. Further legal proceedings are expected as investigators continue to examine the evidence collected during the arrests.
