BC Welfare – YSRCP Plans Statewide Campaign Over Representation Concerns

BC Welfare – The YSR Congress Party has announced a statewide campaign alleging that Backward Classes have not received adequate political representation, welfare support or constitutional opportunities under the coalition government during the past two years. Party leaders said the initiative would focus on taking their concerns to people across Andhra Pradesh.

Vijayawada Convention to Begin Outreach Programme

Former minister Chelluboina Venu Gopala Krishna, MLC Ramesh Yadav and former MP Margani Bharat said the campaign would begin with a major convention for Backward Classes in Vijayawada. The party also plans to hold zonal-level meetings in different parts of the State as part of the programme.

According to the leaders, the meetings will be used to discuss what they described as unmet commitments made to BC communities and to highlight issues related to representation in government and public institutions.

Allegations Over Deputy Chief Minister Post

The YSRCP leaders alleged that Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu had not given the Deputy Chief Minister’s position to a representative from the Backward Classes. They also claimed that BC Corporations had not been fully constituted because chairpersons for those bodies were yet to be appointed.

They argued that the absence of appointments had affected the functioning of institutions meant to support various backward communities. The party said it would raise these matters during its public meetings and seek accountability from the coalition administration.

Comparison With Previous YSRCP Government

The leaders compared the current situation with the previous government led by Y. S. Jagan Mohan Reddy. They said the YSRCP administration had formed 56 BC Corporations in one phase and had provided wider political participation to backward communities.

They maintained that the earlier government had taken steps to expand representation for BC groups through corporation appointments and other political positions. The party plans to present this record during the proposed campaign while questioning the coalition government’s approach.

Focus on Election Manifesto Promises

The YSRCP also accused the coalition government of failing to deliver on promises made to Backward Classes in its election manifesto. Party leaders said the campaign would examine commitments related to welfare, political opportunities and institutional support for BC communities.

They said the programme was intended to create awareness among voters and encourage public discussion on whether the government had acted on its assurances. The party is expected to finalise the schedule for the Vijayawada convention and subsequent zonal meetings in the coming days.

Statewide Meetings Planned After Convention

Following the Vijayawada event, the YSRCP plans to organise meetings in multiple regions of Andhra Pradesh. Leaders said these gatherings would allow party workers and community representatives to raise local concerns linked to BC welfare and representation.

The campaign is likely to add momentum to political debate in the State, with the YSRCP positioning the issue of Backward Classes as an important part of its public outreach. The coalition government has not issued a response to the allegations mentioned by the party leaders.
