Delhi Crime – Man Killed While Defending Woman During Knife Attack in Park
Delhi Crime – A man lost his life after allegedly trying to shield a woman from a group of youths who reportedly harassed her inside a park in northwest Delhi. The woman also suffered serious injuries in the attack and remains under medical care.
A fatal stabbing incident in northwest Delhi’s Bharat Nagar area has left one man dead and a 26-year-old woman critically injured. According to police, the attack took place on Wednesday afternoon inside a local park, where the victims were reportedly sitting together when they were approached by a group of unidentified youths. Investigators believe the confrontation began after the woman was allegedly harassed, leading to a violent assault with knives.
Police Responded After Emergency Call
Officials said a Police Control Room (PCR) call reporting a stabbing at Khimman Singh Park in Ashok Vihar was received at approximately 3:33 pm. Police teams immediately reached the location and found both victims with serious injuries. They were taken to Deep Chand Bandhu Hospital, where doctors declared the man dead on arrival.
The deceased has been identified as Sunil, a resident of Mainpuri district in Uttar Pradesh. The injured woman, identified as Devki, 26, who lives in Jahangirpuri, was later shifted to a higher medical facility after doctors suspected damage to one of her lungs.
Woman Describes Sequence of Events
During her initial statement to investigators, Devki told police that four to five unknown men approached them while they were sitting in the park. She alleged that the group behaved inappropriately with her, and when Sunil objected, an argument followed. According to her account, one of the attackers then pulled out a knife and assaulted both of them before the group escaped from the scene.
Police have not yet confirmed every aspect of the woman’s account and said they are carefully examining all available evidence to establish the exact sequence of events.
Investigation Focuses on Motive
Investigators said the motive behind the attack is still being examined. Officers are reviewing witness statements and other evidence collected from the area to determine whether the assault was directly linked to the alleged harassment or if there were any additional factors involved.
Police have launched efforts to identify and trace the four to five suspects who fled immediately after the incident. CCTV footage from nearby locations and other technical evidence are also expected to play an important role in the investigation.
Doctors Confirmed Multiple Knife Injuries
Medical officials stated that Sunil suffered four stab wounds during the attack, and despite being rushed to the hospital, he could not be saved. Devki sustained two knife injuries and required advanced treatment due to the seriousness of her condition.
Authorities said her medical condition continues to be monitored while investigators await further developments that may assist the ongoing probe.
The case has once again highlighted concerns over public safety and violent crimes in the national capital. Police have assured that all aspects of the incident are being investigated thoroughly and that efforts are underway to apprehend those responsible.
