Crime –  A serious case of alleged workplace harassment has come to light in Nashik, where six employees of a multinational firm have been taken into custody following multiple complaints from female colleagues. Authorities have also noted allegations related to the hurting of religious sentiments.

Multiple Complaints Reveal Pattern of Misconduct

Police officials confirmed that nine women have filed formal complaints against the accused. Based on these statements, eight separate cases involving molestation and religious insensitivity have been registered at Mumbai Naka Police Station. In addition, a more serious case involving rape and molestation has been filed at Deolali Camp Police Station.

Investigators believe the incidents were not isolated but part of a broader pattern of behavior. The accused and the victims had been working in various roles within the same company since 2022. Over time, the accused allegedly established familiarity with the victims, which was later misused to engage in inappropriate conduct.

Allegations Include Harassment Inside and Outside Workplace

According to police findings, the accused are alleged to have engaged in repeated acts of misconduct within the workplace. These include making unwelcome comments, forcing conversations, and deliberately touching female colleagues inappropriately.

Some victims have also claimed that the harassment extended beyond office premises. The accused allegedly followed them after working hours and made offensive remarks in public spaces. In certain cases, attempts were made to intrude into the personal lives of the victims, creating an atmosphere of fear and discomfort.

Claims of Religious Insensitivity Add to Charges

Apart from harassment, several complainants have alleged that their religious beliefs were disrespected. According to their statements, they were pressured to consume non-vegetarian food despite being strict vegetarians. These claims have led to additional charges related to hurting religious sentiments, further complicating the case.

Authorities are examining these allegations carefully as part of the ongoing investigation. Officials have emphasized that all aspects of the complaints will be reviewed thoroughly to ensure fairness and accountability.

Arrests Made Across Multiple Locations

The six accused individuals have been identified as Danish Sheikh, Tausif Attar, Nida Khan, Raza Memon, Shahrukh Qureshi, and Shafi Sheikh. Police teams carried out coordinated operations to apprehend them. While one of the accused was arrested in Pune, the others were detained from different areas within Nashik.

Following their arrest, all six were presented before a court, which has remanded them to police custody until April 10. This period will allow investigators to gather further evidence and record additional statements.

Special Investigation Team Formed for Detailed Probe

In response to the seriousness of the case, Police Commissioner Sandeep Karnik has ordered the formation of a Special Investigation Team. The SIT has been tasked with conducting a comprehensive inquiry into all complaints and ensuring that no detail is overlooked.

Assistant Commissioner of Police (Crime Branch) Sandeep Mitke stated that separate cases have been registered based on individual complaints, indicating the involvement of the accused in multiple incidents. The SIT will coordinate efforts across police units to establish a clear sequence of events and determine accountability.

Ongoing Investigation and Legal Proceedings

Authorities have assured that the investigation will be carried out with sensitivity and diligence. Statements from victims, digital evidence, and workplace records are being examined as part of the probe.

Officials have also indicated that additional charges may be considered depending on the findings of the SIT. The case continues to develop as investigators work to ensure that all allegations are addressed in accordance with the law.
