Abdul Nazeer, Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, Deputy Chief Minister Pawan Kalyan, and Union Civil Aviation Minister K. Ram Mohan Naidu. Senior officials from GMR Group also accompanied the delegation and briefed the Prime Minister on the airport’s planning, technological capabilities, and long-term operational vision.

The passenger terminal has been designed to highlight the rich cultural heritage of Andhra Pradesh. Decorative installations featuring the state’s traditional crafts and artistic legacy were placed throughout the building to welcome visitors. Among the major attractions was an extensive display of Etikoppaka artwork at the entrance, which drew the Prime Minister’s attention during his visit and reflected the region’s well-known handicraft traditions.

Tribal Dance Performance Creates Memorable Welcome

As the Prime Minister departed the airport for the public gathering, thousands of tribal women greeted the official convoy with the traditional Dhimsa dance. Officials stated that nearly 13,500 performers participated in the cultural presentation, setting a new Guinness World Record. The vibrant performance received appreciation from the Prime Minister, who was seen applauding the participants as they showcased the region’s indigenous cultural traditions.

Development Projects Worth ₹17,900 Crore Announced

Following the airport inauguration, Prime Minister Modi was scheduled to address a public meeting in Bhogapuram. During the event, he is expected to inaugurate, dedicate, and lay the foundation stones for multiple development projects collectively valued at more than ₹17,900 crore. These initiatives are aimed at strengthening infrastructure and supporting long-term economic growth across Andhra Pradesh.

Airport Built Through Public-Private Partnership

The Alluri Sitarama Raju International Airport has been developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model with an investment exceeding ₹5,640 crore. Designed to accommodate around six million passengers each year during its initial phase, the airport is expected to significantly improve domestic and international air connectivity for the region.

Officials believe the project will encourage tourism, attract fresh investments, facilitate business expansion, and generate employment opportunities. Improved transportation links are also expected to support industrial development and provide greater accessibility for travelers across northern Andhra Pradesh.

Smart Technology to Improve Passenger Experience

The airport has been equipped with several advanced digital systems to deliver a smoother and more efficient travel experience. Its infrastructure includes Artificial Intelligence (AI)-powered solutions, Building Information Modelling (BIM), Airside 4.0 technologies, an Airport Predictive Operations Centre (APOC), biometric passenger processing, automated baggage handling, and intelligent operational monitoring systems.

These technologies have been introduced to enhance airport operations, improve passenger safety and convenience, streamline resource management, and prepare the facility to meet future aviation demands. The combination of sustainable infrastructure and modern digital capabilities positions the airport as one of the country’s technologically advanced aviation hubs.
