A man identified as Pankaj Nayyar lost his life in the early hours of Monday after a confrontation reportedly turned violent in East Delhi. According to police officials, the incident unfolded around 2:20 a.m. and stemmed from a dispute involving parking arrangements in the neighborhood.

Dispute Escalates Into Violence

The situation began with a heated exchange between Pankaj Nayyar, his brother Paras, and another individual named Gaurav Sharma. What initially appeared to be a verbal disagreement quickly intensified. During the altercation, Sharma allegedly pulled out a firearm and shot Nayyar in the chest, officials said.

The sudden escalation left bystanders shocked, as the argument spiraled beyond control within minutes. Authorities believe the confrontation was spontaneous rather than pre-planned, though all angles are currently under review as part of the ongoing investigation.

Victim Declared Dead at Hospital

Following the shooting, Nayyar was immediately taken to a nearby private hospital in an attempt to save his life. However, doctors declared him dead upon arrival. The loss has left the local community shaken, with residents expressing concern over rising tensions linked to everyday disputes.

Police have since taken custody of the body and transferred it to Lal Bahadur Shastri Hospital for a post-mortem examination. The report is expected to provide further clarity regarding the exact cause and circumstances of death.

Legal Action and Police Response

Authorities have registered a First Information Report against the accused under multiple sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS), including charges of murder, causing harm, and acts committed with shared intent. Provisions under the Arms Act have also been invoked due to the use of a firearm.

Law enforcement agencies have formed multiple teams to locate and arrest the suspect, who is currently absconding. Officials stated that efforts are underway to apprehend him at the earliest, and surveillance measures have been intensified in surrounding areas.

Investigation Continues

Police officials confirmed that the investigation is actively progressing. Statements from witnesses are being recorded, and forensic teams are examining the scene for additional evidence. Authorities are also reviewing CCTV footage from nearby locations to trace the sequence of events and movements of the accused.

While preliminary findings suggest a personal dispute as the trigger, investigators have not ruled out other contributing factors. Further updates are expected as more details emerge.

Recent Similar Incident Raises Concern

This incident comes shortly after another violent case reported on April 17 in South Delhi’s Alaknanda area. In that case, a father and son were killed during an alleged attack by a neighbor inside a residential complex.

The victims, identified as Rakesh Sood and his son Karan Sood, were declared dead after being taken to a hospital. Initial findings indicated that the attack was linked to a long-standing dispute between the families. The accused, identified as Asad, was later arrested by police.

Growing Concern Over Neighborhood Disputes

The back-to-back incidents have raised concerns about how minor disagreements can escalate into serious violence. Police officials have urged residents to resolve disputes peacefully and report escalating tensions before they turn dangerous.

Community awareness and timely intervention, authorities say, can play a crucial role in preventing such tragedies. Meanwhile, law enforcement continues to focus on ensuring swift justice and maintaining public safety.
