Counterfeit Currency – Ajmer Arrest Leads Police to Probe Fake Note Network

Counterfeit Currency –   Police have intensified efforts against counterfeit currency circulation after separate operations in Rajasthan and Assam uncovered fake Indian notes worth more than Rs 26 lakh.

Counterfeit currency ajmer arrest

A special police operation in Rajasthan’s Ajmer has resulted in the arrest of a man allegedly carrying counterfeit Rs 500 currency notes with a total face value of approximately Rs 13.06 lakh. Officials said the action was part of an ongoing campaign aimed at reducing criminal activities in and around the Dargah area, where security measures have recently been strengthened.

Suspect Taken Into Custody During Special Operation

According to police, the accused has been identified as Vikram. He was detained by a specially formed team conducting surveillance in the locality. During the search, officers recovered fake Rs 500 notes believed to have a face value exceeding Rs 13 lakh. After his arrest, Vikram was presented before a local court, which granted the police one day of custody for further questioning.

Investigators said the suspect had previously been associated with the wedding industry. Preliminary findings indicate that he was allegedly planning to introduce the counterfeit currency into circulation during the early hours of the day. Police are examining the circumstances surrounding the recovery and verifying additional details connected with the case.

Investigation Focuses on Source of Counterfeit Notes

Authorities stated that the investigation has now shifted toward identifying the origin of the fake currency and determining whether a larger network is involved. Officers are gathering evidence to establish how the counterfeit notes reached the accused and whether other individuals played a role in producing or distributing them.

Police officials have not ruled out the possibility of wider links and said additional arrests may follow if fresh evidence emerges during the investigation. The recovered notes will also undergo further examination as part of the forensic process.

Separate Assam Operations Recover Similar Fake Currency

In another development, Guwahati Police reported the seizure of counterfeit Indian currency worth around Rs 13.5 lakh during two independent operations carried out by the Dispur Police Station. The raids were conducted on June 30 and July 1 after law enforcement agencies received specific intelligence regarding suspected illegal activities.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (East) Tabu Ram Pegu said the coordinated operations led to the arrest of five individuals. Along with the fake currency, officers also recovered several items considered important for the ongoing investigation. Separate criminal cases have been registered in connection with the seizures.

Police Working to Break Counterfeit Network

Officials in Assam believe the accused intended to deceive members of the public by circulating the fake notes. Investigators are now working to trace the supply chain behind the counterfeit currency and identify those responsible for manufacturing and distributing it.

Police said both investigations remain active, with teams collecting evidence and examining possible connections between those arrested and other suspected members of counterfeit currency networks. Authorities have reiterated their commitment to taking strict action against financial crimes that threaten public trust and economic security.

The recent recoveries in Rajasthan and Assam highlight the continued efforts of law enforcement agencies to prevent the circulation of fake Indian currency. Officials have urged citizens to remain alert while handling cash transactions and report any suspicious currency or activities to the nearest police station.
