Wall Collapse During Construction Work

According to local authorities, nearly 16 labourers were engaged in construction work on the compound wall of an open industrial plot when the incident occurred. During the operation, a JCB machine reportedly struck a recently constructed brick wall, causing it to collapse.

The falling structure buried five workers who were working nearby. Emergency assistance was immediately sought, and workers at the site rushed to help pull the trapped labourers from the rubble.

Two workers, later identified as Sachin Shankar Rathod and his wife Komal Sachin Rathod, suffered severe injuries and died at the spot before medical help could arrive.

Contracted Construction Work At Industrial Plot

Officials stated that the work was being carried out at a plot belonging to an induction thermal treatment company. The construction project had been assigned by the plot owner, Sadashiv Agale, to contractor Deepak Devaji Jadhav for building a brick compound wall around the property.

Among those working on the site were Sachin Rathod and his wife Komal, along with other labourers including Manohar Bhiku Chavan and his wife Geeta Manohar Chavan. The workers had reportedly been hired through a local labour checkpoint.

Authorities said that apart from the two fatalities, two other labourers sustained injuries during the collapse.

Injured Workers Undergoing Treatment

Manohar Bhiku Chavan and his wife Geeta Chavan were rescued from the debris with minor injuries. They were transported to Unicare Hospital in Dehugaon, where they are currently receiving treatment.

Medical officials confirmed that both injured workers are in stable condition. Doctors are monitoring them while they recover from the injuries sustained during the incident.

Meanwhile, the bodies of Sachin Rathod and Komal Rathod were transferred to YCM Hospital for post-mortem examination and further legal procedures.

Eyewitness Describes Moment Of Collapse

Geeta Chavan, who survived the accident, recounted the events leading up to the collapse. She said the workers were inside a pit plastering the wall when the incident occurred.

According to her account, a JCB machine arrived at the site to remove soil. During the operation, the machine came into contact with the wall structure, triggering the collapse.

She said several workers were standing inside the pit when the wall suddenly fell over them. One labourer was positioned outside the area and managed to avoid being trapped.

Chavan said fellow workers from inside the company premises rushed to help and began rescue efforts immediately after the collapse.

She recalled witnessing the couple suffer fatal injuries during the incident, adding that the rescue team managed to pull out the injured workers and transport them for treatment.

Investigation Into Construction Safety

Local authorities have begun examining the circumstances surrounding the accident. Officials are expected to review safety measures followed at the construction site and determine whether any negligence contributed to the collapse.

Workplace accidents involving construction labourers remain a persistent concern in rapidly expanding industrial areas. Investigators will assess the role of machinery operation and structural stability in the incident.

Further action will depend on the findings of the ongoing inquiry.
