Congress –Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi is scheduled to begin a two-day visit to Uttarakhand on Thursday, with a series of public and organisational engagements planned across the state. Public Rally Planned in Almora

The first major event of Rahul Gandhi’s visit will take place in Almora, where he is expected to address a large public gathering. Congress supporters and local residents are anticipated to attend the rally in significant numbers. Party leaders believe the programme will provide an opportunity to connect directly with voters and communicate the party’s priorities ahead of future electoral contests.

Interaction With Former Servicemen

Following the Almora event, Rahul Gandhi will travel to Pauri Garhwal for a scheduled interaction with former members of the armed forces. The meeting will be held at Kandoliya Ground, where arrangements have been made to accommodate participants. During the programme, Gandhi is expected to listen to concerns and suggestions raised by ex-servicemen and discuss issues affecting their community.

Security Measures Intensified

Authorities have implemented heightened security arrangements across locations associated with the visit. Police personnel and administrative officials have been deployed in and around the event venues to ensure smooth proceedings. Security agencies are maintaining close coordination to manage crowd movement and preserve law and order during the high-profile political programme.

Officials indicated that special attention has been given to Kandoliya Ground and surrounding areas, where additional personnel have been stationed as a precautionary measure.

Congress Highlights Public Interest

On Wednesday, Congress leader and Uttarakhand state in-charge Kumari Selja spoke about the significance of the visit and claimed that people across the state were showing considerable interest in Rahul Gandhi’s programmes.

According to Selja, large numbers of supporters are expected to travel to Almora to attend the public meeting. She also raised concerns regarding traffic congestion and transportation arrangements, alleging that adequate measures had not been put in place to facilitate the movement of attendees.

Concerns Over Travel Arrangements

Selja stated that congestion on several routes could create difficulties for those planning to participate in the programmes. She argued that better planning by the administration would help ensure easier access for visitors travelling from different parts of the state.

The Congress leader maintained that public enthusiasm surrounding the visit remains high despite the logistical challenges being reported in some areas.

Meetings With Party Leaders Scheduled

The second day of Rahul Gandhi’s visit will focus largely on organisational matters. Congress leaders said he is expected to meet party workers, office-bearers and senior leaders from various districts of Uttarakhand.

The discussions are likely to centre on strengthening the party structure, reviewing political developments and formulating strategies for future campaigns. These meetings are considered an important component of the Congress party’s preparations for upcoming electoral challenges in the state.

BJP Responds Ahead of Visit

Meanwhile, the Bharatiya Janata Party reacted to Rahul Gandhi’s tour with criticism. Uttarakhand minister Ganesh Joshi commented on Gandhi’s political campaigns and suggested that such visits ultimately work in favour of the ruling party.

Speaking to reporters on Wednesday, Joshi remarked that wherever Rahul Gandhi campaigns, the BJP tends to benefit politically. His comments reflected the ongoing political rivalry between the two major parties as they continue to position themselves ahead of future elections in Uttarakhand.
