Burari – Couple Found Dead in Alleged Murder-Suicide at Kamal Vihar
Burari – A heartbreaking case came to light in North Delhi after police recovered a man and a woman with gunshot injuries, prompting an extensive investigation into the circumstances surrounding their deaths.

A tragic incident has shocked residents of the Kamal Vihar locality in Burari, where a young man is believed to have shot his girlfriend before taking his own life. Delhi Police said both victims were found dead at the scene on Thursday afternoon after officers responded to an emergency call reporting gunfire. A pistol was recovered near the bodies, and investigators have begun examining all available evidence to establish the sequence of events.
Police Respond to Emergency Call
According to officials, the Police Control Room received information at around 3:30 pm about a man and a woman suffering from gunshot wounds in the Kamal Vihar area. Police teams immediately reached the location and discovered both individuals with fatal injuries. Officers secured the area, collected forensic evidence, and recovered the firearm believed to have been used in the incident.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (North) Raja Banthiya stated that the initial findings indicate the case may involve a murder followed by suicide. However, investigators are continuing their inquiry before drawing final conclusions.
WhatsApp Message Becomes Key Evidence
During the investigation, police found a detailed message reportedly sent by the deceased man to his family’s WhatsApp group shortly before the incident. According to investigators, the message explained that he and the woman had been in a relationship and wished to marry. The note further suggested that persistent opposition from family members had caused him severe emotional distress.
Police said the message also contained an admission that he had shot the woman before ending his own life. Authorities are verifying the contents of the communication and examining other digital and physical evidence as part of the ongoing investigation.
Investigation Remains Underway
Officials have not released the identities of the victims publicly, and investigators are speaking with relatives and other individuals connected to the couple. Forensic experts are also reviewing the weapon, the crime scene, and electronic records to confirm the events leading up to the tragedy.
Police have urged the public to avoid speculation while the investigation continues, emphasizing that all available evidence will be examined before the case is formally concluded.
Another Recent Incident in Delhi
The Burari case follows another serious incident reported in Delhi earlier this week involving a police constable. According to police, constable Manish Bhati allegedly shot his wife after an argument in the Kalyanpuri area before fleeing from the scene.
Authorities launched a search operation and reviewed CCTV footage to trace the accused officer. His body was later discovered in a park near Mayur Vihar in East Delhi. Preliminary findings indicate that he died by suicide using his service revolver. Police are continuing to investigate that case as well.
Dispute Ended in Violence
Investigators said the constable and his wife were travelling together on a scooter when an argument reportedly broke out. Police believe he stopped the vehicle on the roadside and opened fire on his wife before escaping.
Several people nearby witnessed the incident and immediately arranged transportation to take the injured woman to a hospital in an autorickshaw. Despite medical treatment, she later died from her injuries. The incident prompted an intensive police search before the constable was eventually found dead
