Box Office – DC Opens With Rs 4.10 Crore India Net Collection
Box Office –The Tamil romantic action thriller DC collected an estimated Rs 4.10 crore in net earnings across India on its first day, according to industry tracker Sacnilk. The Arun Matheswaran directorial was screened through more than 3,504 shows on its opening day. Its estimated domestic gross stood at around Rs 4.70 crore, while overseas markets added approximately Rs 1 crore. The film’s preliminary worldwide gross therefore reached about Rs 5.70 crore on Day 1.

Tamil Version Accounts for the Largest Share
The Tamil-language release remained the strongest performer among the film’s different versions. It contributed roughly Rs 2.60 crore to the overall India net figure and recorded an estimated occupancy of 45.57% during the day.
The Telugu version followed with a net collection of approximately Rs 1.25 crore. Its overall theatre occupancy was reported at 30.80%. The Hindi version had a comparatively smaller contribution, collecting around Rs 25 lakh with an occupancy rate of about 9%.
One of the notable figures came from the Telugu EPIQ format, which recorded around 71% occupancy, indicating stronger audience turnout for that particular screening format.
Lokesh Kanagaraj Steps Into a New Role
DC is a significant release in Lokesh Kanagaraj’s career because it marks his first appearance as a lead actor. He has previously gained recognition primarily as a filmmaker, with movies including Vikram, Leo and Coolie establishing him as one of Tamil cinema’s prominent commercial directors.
His most recent directorial venture, Coolie, starring Rajinikanth, reportedly opened with a worldwide collection of Rs 151.14 crore. Kanagaraj is also attached to the upcoming film AA23, in which he is set to direct Telugu star Allu Arjun.
Story Centres on Devadas and Two Women
Directed by Arun Matheswaran, DC revolves around Devadas, a man living within a violent and morally complicated environment. The narrative explores how his life becomes intertwined with two women whose circumstances have been shaped by experiences of injustice.
Kanagaraj portrays Devadas in the film. Wamiqa Gabbi plays Chandra, marking her entry into Tamil cinema, while Sanjana Krishnamoorthy appears as Parvathi. Together, the three characters form the central part of the film’s storyline.
The supporting cast features Avinash Raghudevan, Kasthuri Raja, Jawahar Sakthi, Sharath Ravi and Thalaivasal Vijay in important roles.

DC has been produced by Kalanithi Maran under the Sun Pictures banner. The film has received an ‘A’ certificate and has a reported runtime of two hours and 23 minutes.
Anirudh Ravichander has composed both the film’s music and background score. Mukesh G is responsible for the cinematography, while GK Prasanna has handled the editing. Arun Matheswaran has also contributed to the production as the costume designer.
The opening-day figures provide an initial indication of the film’s theatrical performance, with the Tamil version generating the largest share of its domestic business. Further collections will depend on audience response and its performance over the following days.
