International Boxing Success for Pithoragarh

Aarti’s victory marked the culmination of an outstanding few days for women boxers representing Pithoragarh. The district, located in Uttarakhand’s border region, has consistently produced promising talent, and the latest results further strengthen its reputation as a key centre for boxing excellence. Her confident performance throughout the tournament reflected the intensive preparation she has undergone while competing against experienced international opponents.

The young boxer currently trains at the Elite Senior Camp in Patiala, where she continues to sharpen her skills among some of the country’s top athletes. She also represents the Sports Department’s Small Khelo India Boxing Centre, which has played an important role in developing emerging boxing talent. Coaches and officials believe her latest achievement will encourage more young athletes from the region to pursue the sport at competitive levels.

Strong Medal Run for Uttarakhand Women Boxers

Aarti’s gold medal follows another encouraging performance by boxers from the same district earlier this week. Nikita Chand and Kajal Pharswan earned silver medals at the Asian Boxing Championships held in Jakarta, adding to Uttarakhand’s growing medal tally at major international competitions. Together, these achievements underline the strength of the state’s boxing programme and the quality of athletes emerging from its training centres.

Sports observers have noted that consistent investment in coaching facilities and athlete development has started delivering visible results, with several young boxers now competing successfully on international platforms.

State Plans Dedicated Support for Retiring Agniveers

Meanwhile, the Uttarakhand government is preparing to establish a dedicated Agniveer Rehabilitation Board aimed at supporting soldiers after they complete their service under the Agnipath recruitment scheme. If implemented, the initiative is expected to make Uttarakhand one of the first states to introduce a specialised rehabilitation mechanism for former Agniveers.

The proposed board is expected to provide career guidance, skill development programmes, self-employment assistance and vocational training opportunities. Officials are also considering financial support for those wishing to pursue professional education or private-sector employment. The proposal builds upon the state’s earlier decision to grant 10 percent horizontal reservation for former Agniveers in Group C government jobs, with the objective of ensuring smooth career transitions after military service.

AI-Generated Video Becomes Subject of Police Complaint

In another development, an AI-generated video has triggered political controversy in Tehri Garhwal’s Ghansali area. The video, reportedly circulated through a Facebook account operating under the name of Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi and allegedly shared by Amarjeet Dangra, features digitally created scenes involving Prime Minister Narendra Modi, Union Home Minister Amit Shah, US President Donald Trump and several other public figures appearing in a courtroom setting.

Following the circulation of the clip, BJP leader and Block Development Committee member Anil Chauhan filed a complaint at the Ghansali police station. He has requested that authorities register a First Information Report (FIR) against the individual responsible for sharing the content. The matter is now expected to be examined by the police in accordance with applicable legal procedures.
