Accident – Six Killed After High-Speed Car Slams Into Lorry in Tamil Nadu
Accident – A devastating road accident near Vellakovil in Tamil Nadu’s Tiruppur district claimed six lives in the early hours of Wednesday after a car travelling at high speed crashed into a lorry parked near a police checkpoint on the Karur National Highway.
Police officials said the incident took place close to a highway checkpost where authorities were already handling an earlier accident involving the same lorry. The truck had reportedly struck the road median, and officers were working to clear the obstruction from the roadway when the second collision occurred.
Police Constable Among Victims
Among those killed was police constable Ravichandran, who had been assisting with traffic management and the removal of the damaged lorry at the time of the crash. The lorry driver also died in the accident along with four people travelling inside the car.
Investigators stated that the car approached the checkpoint area at considerable speed before the driver apparently lost control. The vehicle then rammed into the stationary lorry with tremendous force, causing catastrophic damage to both vehicles.
Authorities described the impact as extremely severe, leaving little chance of survival for those involved. Emergency responders and senior police personnel rushed to the location immediately after receiving information about the crash.
Rescue Teams Conduct Recovery Operations
Rescue workers carried out recovery operations at the site for several hours. The bodies of the deceased were later removed from the wreckage and taken to a nearby government hospital for post-mortem procedures.
