Aadhaar – New Vikaspuri Centre Highlights Delhi’s Push for Digital Services
Aadhaar – Delhi’s efforts to strengthen public service delivery received a boost with the inauguration of a new Aadhaar Seva Kendra in the Vikaspuri area. The facility was formally opened by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu in the presence of Transport Minister Pankaj Singh. The initiative is expected to make Aadhaar-related services more convenient and accessible for residents while supporting the broader goal of efficient digital governance in the national capital.

Focus on Modern Public Services
Speaking at the inauguration ceremony, Sandhu emphasized the importance of Delhi setting an example in the field of digital governance. As the country’s capital, he said, the city has a responsibility to demonstrate how technology can be used to deliver public services in a manner that is efficient, inclusive, and easy for citizens to access.
He noted that public expectations regarding government services continue to evolve. Residents increasingly seek greater transparency, quicker responses, and smoother access to essential services. According to him, government institutions must continuously update their systems and processes to keep pace with these changing expectations.
Technology Driving Administrative Improvements
The Lieutenant Governor highlighted the growing role of technology in transforming governance across different sectors. He said digital reforms have helped improve the quality of public services by reducing administrative hurdles and making processes more transparent.
Over the years, technology-based initiatives have enabled government departments to streamline service delivery and improve communication with citizens. Such measures have also contributed to better accountability and easier access to various public welfare schemes and services.
Aadhaar’s Role in Digital Infrastructure
During his address, Sandhu described Aadhaar as one of the key components of India’s Digital Public Infrastructure. He said the identification system has become an important tool for connecting citizens with a wide range of government and financial services.
According to him, Aadhaar has played a significant role in enabling direct benefit transfers, ensuring that government assistance reaches intended beneficiaries more effectively. The system has also helped strengthen financial inclusion by making it easier for people to access banking and related services.
Enhancing Citizen Convenience
The Lieutenant Governor further observed that Aadhaar has simplified interactions between individuals and institutions by providing a reliable and widely accepted form of identification. This has reduced procedural complexities in many public and private sector services.
He added that the use of Aadhaar has contributed to minimizing leakages in welfare distribution systems, helping authorities improve efficiency while ensuring greater transparency. The newly opened Aadhaar Seva Kendra in Vikaspuri is expected to support these objectives by offering residents easier access to enrollment, updates, and other Aadhaar-related services.
Commitment to Digital Governance
The opening of the new centre reflects the ongoing focus on strengthening digital service infrastructure in Delhi. Authorities believe that expanding access to Aadhaar services can support broader governance reforms and improve citizen experiences.
As digital platforms continue to become an integral part of public administration, initiatives such as the Vikaspuri Aadhaar Seva Kendra are expected to play an important role in making government services more accessible, efficient, and citizen-friendly.
