MiddleEastConflict – Hezbollah Leader Reaffirms Resistance Stance After Ceasefire
MiddleEastConflict – A fresh Israeli airstrike in southern Lebanon has raised concerns about the stability of the recently implemented ceasefire between Lebanon and Israel. The strike reportedly hit the Jabal al-Rafee area near the town of Sajd shortly after the ceasefire came into force at 4:00 p.m. local time on Friday, according to information released by Lebanon’s National News Agency.

Hezbollah Signals Readiness to Respond
In a televised address broadcast on al-Manar television, Hezbollah Secretary-General Naim Qassem stated that the group would continue to defend itself if subjected to military attacks. He said that threats or attempts to intimidate Hezbollah members would not alter the organization’s position, emphasizing that the movement remains committed to confronting Israeli actions if necessary.
Qassem argued that efforts aimed at weakening Hezbollah and maintaining what he described as occupation had not achieved their intended objectives. He expressed confidence that Israel would eventually withdraw from all Lebanese territory that remains disputed or occupied.
Concerns Over Lebanon’s Political Future
During his remarks, Qassem described the current period as one of the most critical moments facing Lebanon. He accused Israel of attempting to influence Lebanon’s internal political landscape and claimed that reconstruction projects in areas damaged by conflict were being obstructed.
The Hezbollah leader also alleged that there was a broader regional agenda targeting Lebanon’s future. According to him, the country’s institutions and resistance movement were facing increasing pressure amid ongoing political and security challenges.
Call for Respect of Lebanese Sovereignty
Qassem reiterated that Hezbollah’s military capabilities are intended solely for confrontation with Israel. He called on Israeli authorities to respect Lebanon’s sovereignty, territorial integrity, and internationally recognized borders.
His comments came against the backdrop of renewed military activity despite the ceasefire arrangement. The reported airstrike near Sajd has sparked questions about whether both sides will be able to maintain the fragile truce in the coming days.
Hezbollah Lawmaker Backs Ceasefire Commitment
Earlier on Friday, Ibrahim al-Moussawi, a member of Hezbollah’s parliamentary bloc known as “Loyalty to the Resistance,” reaffirmed the group’s commitment to the ceasefire agreement. He said Hezbollah would continue adhering to the terms of the arrangement as long as Israel also fulfills its obligations under the deal.
His statement was viewed as an indication that the group remains willing to support efforts aimed at reducing tensions, provided that both parties respect the agreed conditions.
Rising Human Cost of the Conflict
Meanwhile, Lebanon’s Public Health Emergency Operations Center released updated figures on the impact of the conflict. According to the agency, Israeli military operations since March 2 have resulted in 3,980 deaths and left 12,001 people injured.
The latest casualty figures underscore the heavy humanitarian toll of the ongoing hostilities. As diplomatic efforts continue to preserve the ceasefire, attention remains focused on whether the agreement can prevent further violence and create conditions for long-term stability in the region.
