The aircraft involved in the incident was identified as a Beechcraft BE30. According to authorities, the plane had departed from Marsh Harbour Airport in the Bahamas and was en route to Grand Bahama International Airport when it encountered trouble over the Atlantic waters.

Search and Rescue Mission Launched Quickly

Emergency teams began responding shortly after reports of the crash were received. The US Coast Guard deployed a C-27 aircraft to locate the missing plane and assist in rescue operations. Officials said the aircraft went down roughly 80 miles off the coast of Melbourne, Florida.

Rescue crews from both the United States and the Bahamas worked together during the operation. Their rapid response helped locate the passengers and transport them to safety within a short period after the crash was reported.

FAA Confirms Crash Details

The Federal Aviation Administration stated that the Beechcraft aircraft crashed into the ocean around 12:05 p.m. local time. The crash site was reported to be approximately 50 miles east of Vero Beach Regional Airport in Florida.

Authorities also confirmed that communication with the aircraft had been lost before the emergency response began. Reports indicated that the Bahamas Aircraft Accident Investigation Authority had already declared an emergency situation before contact with the aircraft was interrupted.

Survivors Taken to Florida Trauma Centres

After being rescued from the ocean, all 11 survivors were flown by helicopter to Melbourne International Airport. Medical teams were waiting on arrival to provide immediate care and transportation to nearby hospitals.

Officials from the Brevard County Communications Department said that ten individuals were admitted to Holmes Regional Medical Center for treatment. One additional survivor was transported to Orlando Health Melbourne for medical evaluation.

At this stage, authorities have not publicly released detailed information about the injuries suffered by those onboard. However, officials confirmed that all rescued passengers received emergency medical attention shortly after reaching shore.

Cause of Crash Still Under Investigation

Investigators are continuing to examine the circumstances that led to the aircraft going down in the Atlantic Ocean. The US Coast Guard Southeast division said the cause of the crash remains unknown and further updates will be shared once more details become available.

Aviation investigators are expected to review flight data, weather conditions, aircraft maintenance records, and communication logs as part of the ongoing inquiry. Such investigations often take time as authorities work to determine the exact sequence of events leading to the accident.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of international coordination during maritime emergencies, especially in areas frequently used for flights between the Bahamas and Florida. Rescue agencies credited the swift response of air and marine teams for helping ensure that all passengers survived the crash.
