Television – Television actor Harshad Chopda has shared a deeply personal account of a traumatic childhood experience, opening up for the first time about an incident that left a lasting emotional impact.
Harshad Chopda spoke candidly about a painful memory from his childhood while appearing on the latest episode of Lock Upp 2. During a segment that required contestants to reveal a hidden secret connected to the theme “childhood,” the actor disclosed that he had experienced sexual abuse when he was around nine or ten years old. He explained that fear and confusion prevented him from discussing the incident with anyone for many years.
Harshad Describes the Incident
Recalling the experience, Harshad said his parents had entrusted him to people who were considered reliable not only by his family but also by the wider community. He remembered being a quiet and reserved child who did not understand what was happening at the time.
According to the actor, one night an adult behaved inappropriately toward him while he pretended to be asleep out of fear. He said he remained fully clothed but felt frightened and helpless during the incident. Harshad added that, because of his young age, he could not comprehend the situation or find the courage to speak about it afterward.
Fear and Silence Lasted for Years
The actor also recalled another disturbing moment involving the same individual. He said the person called him to a balcony under the pretext of showing him something and lifted him, once again engaging in behavior that made him uncomfortable. Harshad explained that he did not know how to question the situation or seek help, as he was too frightened and confused to express what he had experienced.
He revealed that he had never spoken publicly about these memories before, saying that he carried the burden in silence because he lacked the understanding to describe what had happened.
Appeal to Parents and Families
During the emotional conversation, Harshad urged parents to remain vigilant and maintain open communication with their children. He stressed that children should feel safe discussing any situation that makes them uncomfortable, regardless of who is involved.
The actor said speaking openly about such experiences is important because it can help expose offenders and prevent others from facing similar situations. He also acknowledged that the trauma influenced some of his personal fears later in life. However, he clarified that he does not hate gay men and emphasized that his reaction is rooted in his past experience rather than prejudice.
