Lock Upp – Akanksha Chamola Opens Up About Love and Separation
Lock Upp – Actress Akanksha Chamola has spoken candidly about her difficult experiences with relationships during a recent episode of Netflix’s Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa. The actor, who was previously married to television star Gaurav Khanna, said she has come to believe that she has been “unlucky in love.”

Conversation turns to relationships
During a conversation with fellow contestant Varun Yadav and her close friend on the show, Pamala Serena, Akanksha discussed how a female friend had once described her romantic life. According to Akanksha, the friend told her that she would continue to face disappointment in love.
Akanksha said she had gradually accepted that view of her personal life. When Varun asked whether she truly considered herself unlucky in relationships, she responded that she did.
The exchange came as contestants discussed their experiences with love, friendships and emotional setbacks inside the reality show.
Separation from Gaurav Khanna revealed at launch
Akanksha had earlier surprised viewers and members of the show’s panel by revealing that she and Gaurav Khanna had been living separately for about a year. She also said the couple were moving towards divorce.
The announcement was made during the launch event of Lock Upp: Sach Ya Sazaa, hosted by Farah Khan and Riteish Deshmukh. The disclosure drew attention because the pair had been together for several years before their marriage.
Akanksha and Gaurav married in November 2016 after a long relationship. Their marriage lasted for more than nine years before Akanksha publicly confirmed that they were no longer living together.
Neither actor has publicly shared detailed reasons behind the separation. Their comments have largely remained limited to the information disclosed during the programme and related appearances.
Personal revelation on Judgement Day
Akanksha also spoke about another personal aspect of her life during the show’s Judgement Day segment last week. She said she is bisexual and had been in relationships with women before her marriage to Gaurav.
Her statement prompted discussion among viewers, with many noting the openness with which contestants are addressing personal experiences on the programme. The show has positioned itself around high-pressure tasks, public conversations and personal disclosures by its participants.
Contestants compete under lock-up rules
The current season features several familiar television and social media personalities, including Akanksha Chaudhary, Yogesh Rawat, Sunita Ahuja, Ram Kapoor, Shreya Kalra, Shivangi Joshi, Harshad Chopra, Sufi Motiwala, Dheeraj Dhoopar, Madhuri Jain Grover, Riyaz Aly and Varun Yadav, also known as Laila.
The format places contestants inside a lock-up setting for six weeks. Participants must complete assigned tasks to earn in-game currency, which is needed to access food, supplies and certain privileges within the show.
The first season of Lock Upp aired in 2022 and was hosted by Kangana Ranaut. Karan Kundrra appeared as the jailor throughout that edition, while comedian Munawar Faruqui emerged as the winner.
The new instalment includes 14 inmates and two jailers. As the competition progresses, viewers are expected to see a mix of strategic gameplay, emotional confrontations and personal stories from the contestants.
