Investigation – AICWA Seeks Independent Probe Into Actor Sanchita Ugale’s Death
Investigation – The All Indian Cine Workers Association (AICWA) has once again urged the Maharashtra government to initiate an independent investigation into the death of television actor Sanchita Ugale, calling for the formation of a Special Investigation Team (SIT) to examine the case in a transparent and impartial manner.

In a formal appeal addressed to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis, the association emphasized the need for a detailed inquiry that could help uncover all relevant facts surrounding the actor’s death. According to AICWA, such an investigation would not only provide clarity to the family but also reinforce public trust in the legal and investigative process.
Demand for a High-Level Inquiry
AICWA President Suresh Shyamlal Gupta stated that an SIT-led probe would ensure that every aspect of the case is examined thoroughly. The organization believes that an independent investigation is necessary to establish the circumstances leading to the actor’s death and to address concerns raised within the entertainment community.
The association noted that transparency in the investigation would help eliminate doubts and provide answers to questions being raised by both industry members and the public. It added that a comprehensive review of all available evidence is essential for ensuring fairness and accountability.
Concerns Raised by Entertainment Fraternity
The latest appeal follows an earlier request made by AICWA on June 15, when the association sought a high-level investigation into the incident. At that time, the organization expressed shock over reports of the actor’s alleged suicide and called for all possible angles to be examined during the inquiry.
Sanchita Ugale had earned recognition through her performances in popular television serials, including “Kumkum Bhagya” and “Wagle Ki Duniya.” Her sudden death has deeply affected colleagues and members of the entertainment industry, many of whom have expressed grief and concern over the circumstances surrounding the tragedy.
AICWA stated that the actor was building a promising career and had established a growing presence in the television industry. The association said that the unexpected development has prompted serious questions that deserve careful and unbiased examination.
Wider Concerns Over Similar Cases
The organization also highlighted that several deaths and alleged suicide cases involving members of the entertainment industry over the years have sparked public debate and concern. According to AICWA, recurring incidents of this nature underline the importance of conducting thorough investigations and identifying any broader issues that may contribute to such tragedies.
The association urged authorities to examine underlying factors that could be affecting individuals working in the film and television sector. It further called on the state government to consider measures that may help prevent similar incidents in the future.
Police Investigation and Case Details
According to police officials, the incident occurred on the evening of June 14 at Sai Santoshi Building in Achole village, located in Nalasopara East near Mumbai. Authorities said the actor was found hanging from a ceiling fan inside her bedroom, with the room reportedly locked from the inside.
She was immediately taken to a hospital operated by the Vasai-Virar Municipal Corporation, where doctors declared her dead following medical examination.
Police stated that, based on a complaint submitted by her father, Machhindra Ugale, an Accidental Death Report (ADR) was registered on June 15 under Section 194 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS). Officials said the investigation is currently being carried out in accordance with legal procedures.
Call for Transparency and Justice
AICWA has maintained that every loss of life deserves a thorough investigation and that families should receive clear answers through due process. The association reiterated its demand for an SIT probe, saying that establishing the truth behind the actor’s death is important not only for her family but also for the wider entertainment community.
The organization concluded that a transparent investigation could help ensure accountability while also contributing to discussions on the well-being and safety of artists working in the Indian entertainment industry.
