JewelleryRobbery – Bihar Police have reported significant progress in the investigation of the high-profile jewellery shop robbery that took place in Gurua Bazar, Gaya district. Two alleged members of the robbery gang were arrested during a police operation carried out in the early hours of Tuesday in the Amas police station area. Officials also recovered a portion of the stolen gold ornaments based on information obtained during questioning of the accused.

Operation Conducted Following Intelligence Inputs

According to police authorities, investigators had been pursuing leads related to the May 22 robbery in which gold jewellery worth around ₹45 lakh was reportedly looted from a jewellery store in Gurua Bazar. During the night between Monday and Tuesday, law enforcement agencies received information suggesting that some of the suspects were planning another criminal act in the region.

Acting swiftly on the tip-off, a special police team launched an operation near the Banahi sand ghat area under the jurisdiction of Amas police station at approximately 1 a.m. The area was surrounded to prevent the suspects from escaping.

Exchange of Fire During Police Action

Police officials stated that when the suspects were confronted and instructed to surrender, they allegedly attempted to flee and opened fire on the security personnel. In response, police returned fire, resulting in an exchange of gunshots.

During the operation, officers managed to apprehend two individuals believed to be connected to the jewellery shop robbery. Authorities identified one of them as Sujit Chaudhary, who has been described as the main accused in the case. Another alleged gang member was also taken into custody.

Injured Accused Shifted to Hospital

Officials confirmed that both arrested suspects sustained injuries to their legs during the encounter. Sujit Chaudhary reportedly suffered multiple bullet wounds, while his associate received a gunshot injury to the leg.

Following the incident, both men were transported under police supervision to Anugrah Narayan Magadh Medical College and Hospital, where they are receiving medical treatment. Security arrangements have been tightened around the hospital during the ongoing investigation.

Recovery of Stolen Gold Jewellery

During questioning, investigators claimed that the accused admitted their involvement in the Gurua jewellery shop robbery. Based on information provided by the suspects, police teams recovered gold ornaments believed to have been taken during the crime.

Authorities have not yet revealed the exact quantity or market value of the recovered jewellery. However, officials described the recovery as an important development that could help strengthen the case and assist in tracing the remaining stolen property.

Search Continues for Remaining Gang Members

Police believe that five individuals were involved in carrying out the robbery. While two suspects were arrested during the operation, three others are said to have escaped under the cover of darkness during the exchange of fire.

Multiple teams have been deployed to conduct raids at suspected hideouts across the region. Investigators are working to identify the locations of the remaining accused and bring them into custody as quickly as possible.

Focus on Organized Crime Crackdown

Senior police officials said the latest operation reflects ongoing efforts to curb robbery, dacoity, and organized criminal activities in Gaya district. Authorities expressed confidence that the remaining suspects will be arrested soon and that further recoveries could be made as the investigation progresses.

The case continues to be monitored closely, with police emphasizing their commitment to ensuring swift action against those involved in serious criminal offences.
