EducationReform – Concerns surrounding the Central Board of Secondary Education’s newly introduced digital evaluation method have triggered strong reactions from students and parents across the country, prompting the Union government to step in with assurances of corrective action.
Union Minister and Lok Janshakti Party (Ram Vilas) leader Chirag Paswan said on Tuesday that the government would not tolerate any issue that could negatively affect students’ academic futures. He stressed that authorities are treating the matter with urgency as complaints related to the CBSE’s On-Screen Marking (OSM) system continue to emerge from different regions.
Government Responds to Student Concerns
Addressing reporters during a media interaction, Paswan acknowledged that the growing number of complaints had created anxiety among families and students awaiting clarity on their examination evaluations. Several students have alleged irregularities in the marking process, including mismatched answer sheets, incomplete evaluations, and technical problems linked to the digital checking platform.
The minister stated that the Education Department is actively working to resolve the situation and ensure that students do not suffer due to administrative or technological shortcomings. According to him, officials are closely monitoring the matter and reviewing reported cases to identify the source of the problems.
Paswan noted that the future of a significant number of students is connected to the issue, making it a matter of national importance. He said the government recognizes its responsibility and is focused on finding practical solutions as quickly as possible.
Pressure Mounts on CBSE Over OSM System
The controversy has intensified in recent days after multiple reports surfaced regarding discrepancies in evaluated answer sheets and difficulties accessing post-result services online. Students and parents have taken to social media platforms to express frustration, with many demanding a transparent review mechanism and quicker grievance redressal.
The On-Screen Marking system was introduced as part of efforts to modernize the evaluation process and improve efficiency in checking examination papers. However, the recent complaints have raised questions about the implementation and technical reliability of the system during large-scale assessments.
Education experts believe that while digital evaluation methods can reduce manual errors and speed up processing time, strong monitoring systems and proper technical safeguards are necessary to maintain public confidence. Any gap in execution, they argue, can directly affect students’ academic records and future opportunities.

Paswan also indicated that the government is looking beyond immediate solutions and plans to strengthen the overall examination framework. He said steps would be taken to improve the system and prevent similar situations from occurring in future academic sessions.
According to the minister, the administration is committed to building a more dependable evaluation process that protects the interests of students while ensuring transparency and accountability. He added that reforms would focus on strengthening both technical infrastructure and operational procedures associated with digital assessments.
The remarks come at a time when the CBSE is facing increasing scrutiny over how examination data and answer scripts are being managed under the updated evaluation model. Students and parents are now awaiting further clarification from education authorities regarding possible corrective measures and the handling of pending complaints.
