Incident Reported Near Local Market Area

According to police officials, the incident occurred on the evening of March 26 when the woman had stepped out to purchase groceries from a nearby shop. While she was returning home, she was reportedly intercepted by a group of young men. What began as harassment quickly escalated into a serious assault when the woman resisted their advances and raised an alarm.

Authorities stated that the accused allegedly forced her to the ground and attempted to sexually assault her. During the ordeal, her clothes were torn, and the suspects recorded the incident on a mobile device without her consent.

Video Circulation Raises Serious Concerns

The situation took a more troubling turn when the video was circulated on social media platforms. Investigators believe that the clip was shared deliberately to humiliate and intimidate the victim. The circulation of such content has raised questions about misuse of technology and the need for stricter monitoring of digital platforms in criminal cases.

Police officials confirmed that the viral video played a key role in identifying the accused and accelerating the investigation.

Police Action and Arrests

In response to the incident, Nalanda police formed a Special Investigation Team under the supervision of Sub-Divisional Police Officer Sanjay Kumar Jaiswal. The team was tasked with ensuring a thorough probe and swift arrests.

So far, two individuals identified as Ashok Yadav and Matlu Mahto, also known as Navneet Kumar Narottam, have been taken into custody. Both have been sent to judicial custody following their arrest. Meanwhile, a third suspect, Ravikant Kumar, remains at large. Police teams are actively conducting raids at multiple locations to trace and apprehend him.

Legal Charges and Investigation Progress

An FIR has been registered at Noorsarai police station against all three accused under several serious charges. These include molestation, attempt to rape, criminal intimidation, and offenses under the Information Technology Act related to the unauthorized recording and distribution of sensitive content.

Officials have assured that all aspects of the case are being examined carefully, including the role of others who may have been involved in sharing the video.

Victim’s Background and Support Measures

The victim, who resides in the village with her in-laws, was alone at the time of the incident as her husband works in Maharashtra. Police have stated that necessary support is being provided to her, and efforts are being made to ensure her safety and dignity during the investigation process.

Local authorities have also appealed to the public not to circulate the video further, emphasizing that sharing such content can cause additional harm to the victim and may invite legal consequences.

Broader Concerns Over Women’s Safety

This case has once again highlighted ongoing concerns regarding women’s safety in smaller towns and rural areas. While swift police action has been noted, the incident underscores the importance of community vigilance, responsible digital behavior, and stronger enforcement of laws designed to protect individuals from such crimes.

Officials have reiterated their commitment to ensuring justice in this case and preventing similar incidents in the future through increased patrolling and awareness initiatives.
