Bihar: 5% DA increase for government workers over 10L

Bihar: The formation of three new ministries, including one for employment and skill development, and a 5% increase in the dearness allowance (DA) for more than 10 lakh government workers and pensioners were agreed by the Bihar cabinet on Tuesday. The sixth Central Pay Commission will now pay 257% DA rather than 252% to government workers and retirees who earn salaries and pensions.

In a similar vein, those receiving pensions and wages under the fifth Central Pay Commission will get 474% DA rather than 466%. The new prices will take effect on July 1, 2025. In order to fulfill the pledge to provide one crore employment to young people, the cabinet meeting also authorized the establishment of three new departments. The departments of higher education, civil aviation, and youth employment and skill development are among the new divisions.

In the next five years (2025–2030), we want to employ one crore young people. The state’s young must get training for skill development and high-quality higher and technical education in order to achieve this, CM Nitish Kumar said on X.
