Politics – PM Modi’s Youth Outreach Draws Support as Shinde Criticises Opposition Strategy

Politics –Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s recent efforts to communicate directly with young citizens have received support from Maharashtra Deputy Chief Minister Eknath Shinde, who described the initiative as a constructive step. Speaking on Friday, Shinde said regular interaction with young people is important because they will shape the country’s future. Referring to remarks made by RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat, he said the younger generation holds a vital place in India’s development and deserves meaningful engagement from national leadership.

Focus on Youth Engagement

During his conversation with ANI, Shinde praised the Prime Minister’s outreach, saying that connecting with young people encourages participation and strengthens public dialogue. According to him, such communication reflects a positive approach toward addressing the aspirations of the country’s younger population. He also echoed Bhagwat’s view that the future of India depends significantly on its youth and their contribution to society.

In recent weeks, Prime Minister Modi has adopted a more direct style of communication through Instagram, where he has been sharing self-recorded video messages. These videos have focused on subjects including examination reforms, opportunities for young people, and public service initiatives. The move is being seen as an attempt to establish a more direct connection with the younger demographic through digital platforms.

Student Protests Form the Political Background

The discussion comes after several youth-led protests gained national attention, particularly demonstrations at Delhi’s Jantar Mantar led by the Cockroach Janata Party (CJP). The protesters demanded accountability over examination-related controversies, including alleged paper leaks and issues linked to the NEET examination. One of their key demands was the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan.

Following Pradhan’s resignation and the reported resolution of the main concerns raised during the protests, participating students gradually ended their demonstrations and returned to their academic and personal commitments.

Bhagwat Highlights Views on Younger Generations

At an event in Mumbai on Thursday, RSS chief Mohan Bhagwat spoke extensively about the changing outlook of younger generations, particularly Gen Z and Gen Alpha. He said today’s youth tend to value honesty, expect logical explanations, and respond positively when approached with sincerity and a sense of national responsibility.

Bhagwat also observed that protests and public demonstrations by young citizens should not automatically be viewed negatively. Instead, he suggested that such movements can serve as a legitimate democratic means of expressing concerns and initiating dialogue. According to him, democratic societies should recognise peaceful youth participation as part of the broader public conversation.

Shinde Targets Opposition Parties

While expressing confidence in the role of young citizens, Shinde also criticised opposition parties over their handling of the recent developments. He argued that Parliament remains the appropriate platform for discussing national issues, particularly when both Houses are in session.

Shinde stated that one of the principal demands of the protesters—the resignation of the Union Education Minister—had already been fulfilled. With the demonstrations ending afterward, he questioned why opposition parties continued to raise the issue outside Parliament instead of participating in formal debates.

He further alleged that opposition leaders were attempting to gain political advantage by associating themselves with student movements rather than engaging in detailed parliamentary discussions. According to Shinde, political disagreements should be addressed through legislative debate instead of using youth-led campaigns as a platform for broader political messaging.

Maharashtra Issues Also Discussed with PM

Earlier on Friday, Shinde, along with Shiv Sena Members of Parliament, met Prime Minister Modi during his visit to Parliament. According to the Deputy Chief Minister, the meeting included discussions on matters related to Maharashtra’s development as well as the state’s current rainfall situation.

The interaction highlighted ongoing coordination between the state leadership and the central government on administrative priorities, while political debate over youth engagement, parliamentary discussion, and recent student protests continues to remain part of the national conversation.
