Accident – Drunk Driving Case Leaves Medical Student Critically Injured Near Hyderabad Multiplex

Accident –A postgraduate medical student suffered severe head injuries after her two-wheeler was allegedly struck by a car driven by two young men suspected of being under the influence of alcohol near a popular multiplex on August 3. Although the crash occurred earlier this week, details of the incident became public only on Thursday after police shared information about the case.

Drunk driving medical student accident

Medical Student Seriously Hurt in Late-Night Collision

According to investigators, the injured student, identified as Priyanka, is pursuing her MD degree and had visited Prasads Multiplex to watch a film with a friend. After the movie ended, the pair began their return journey to the hostel on a Scooty when the accident took place near the entertainment complex.

The impact of the collision left Priyanka with critical head injuries. She was first taken to a nearby hospital for emergency treatment before doctors referred her to a medical facility in Hyderabad for specialized care due to the seriousness of her condition.

Police Say Accused Were Denied Entry to Multiplex

Police officials stated that two young men, identified as 24-year-old Suravarapu Dusvant and 23-year-old Desabhatula Andrew Joseph, had also arrived at the multiplex in a car that evening. Preliminary findings indicate the pair had allegedly consumed alcohol before reaching the venue.

Security personnel reportedly noticed their condition and refused them entry into the multiplex. Following the denial, the two men left the premises in the same vehicle. Investigators believe the alleged crash occurred shortly afterward while Priyanka and her friend were heading back from the cinema.

Driver and Companion Allegedly Left the Scene

Authorities said the car allegedly hit the Scooty before the occupants fled without stopping to assist the injured rider. The incident prompted an investigation after the victim was rushed to the hospital for urgent treatment.

Police later traced the vehicle and identified the two suspects, who are reported to be engineering students. Officers subsequently took both individuals into custody for questioning as part of the investigation.

Investigation Continues After Case Registered

Prakash Nagar Circle Inspector Bajilal confirmed that a criminal case has been registered in connection with the incident. Investigators are collecting evidence, including witness statements and other relevant material, to establish the sequence of events surrounding the crash.

Officials are also examining the circumstances leading up to the collision, including allegations that the suspects had consumed alcohol before driving. Further legal action will depend on the outcome of the ongoing investigation and the evidence gathered by police.

Road Safety Concerns Remain in Focus

The incident has once again drawn attention to the dangers associated with alleged drunk driving and the risks faced by two-wheeler riders on busy urban roads. Law enforcement agencies continue to emphasize the importance of responsible driving and adherence to traffic regulations to prevent similar tragedies.

Meanwhile, Priyanka remains under advanced medical care as doctors continue treatment for her injuries. Police have assured that the investigation will proceed in accordance with the law, and additional details will be shared as the case progresses.
