HateSpeech – Mahant Raju Das Seeks Tough Legal Action Over Alleged Remarks
HateSpeech –Hanumangarhi Temple’s Mahant Raju Das has called for strict legal measures against individuals accused of making statements that could disrupt communal peace, following allegations surrounding remarks attributed to Maulana Sajid Rashid.

Mahant Raju Das of Hanumangarhi Temple on Thursday urged both the Central and Uttar Pradesh governments to take firm legal action against those who allegedly make inflammatory comments targeting religious communities. Speaking on the issue, he maintained that any statement capable of creating divisions among people should be addressed through strict enforcement of the law. The remarks come amid renewed public discussion on hate speech and the responsibility of public figures in maintaining social harmony.
Mahant Calls for Stronger Enforcement
Addressing the media, Raju Das said that the alleged comments attributed to Maulana Sajid Rashid were deeply objectionable and, according to him, had the potential to hurt the sentiments of a large number of people. He argued that individuals who attempt to spread hatred or provoke communal tensions should face serious legal consequences under existing laws.
The temple priest further asserted that such incidents should not be viewed lightly and called for authorities to ensure that legal provisions are implemented without delay. He stressed that maintaining peace and mutual respect among different communities should remain a priority.
Allegations Linked to Ram Temple and Sanatan Dharma
Raju Das alleged that the statements attributed to Rashid included provocative references concerning the Ram Temple and Sanatan Dharma. He claimed that comments of this nature could negatively affect communal harmony and urged the government to take decisive steps to discourage similar incidents in the future.
According to him, stronger legal safeguards and effective implementation of hate speech laws would help prevent attempts to create religious discord. He emphasized that no individual, regardless of identity or position, should be permitted to make remarks capable of disturbing public order.
Debate Over Hate Speech Continues
The latest comments have added to the broader national debate over inflammatory speeches made by religious figures and public personalities. Leaders from different political and religious backgrounds have repeatedly demanded consistent legal action against hate speech, irrespective of the community or affiliation of the person making such statements.
Authorities across the country have frequently appealed for restraint while discussing sensitive religious matters. Officials have consistently emphasized the importance of responsible public communication to preserve communal harmony and avoid situations that may lead to social unrest.
Ram Janmabhoomi Remains a Sensitive Subject
The Ram Janmabhoomi issue has remained one of India’s most significant socio-political matters for several decades. In its landmark judgment delivered in November 2019, the Supreme Court awarded the disputed land in Ayodhya for the construction of the Ram Temple while directing that a separate five-acre plot be allocated for building a mosque.
The consecration ceremony of the Ram Mandir took place in January 2024, attracting devotees from different parts of the country and marking a major milestone in the long-running dispute.
No Independent Verification of Allegations
The statements attributed to Maulana Sajid Rashid have not been independently verified by ANI. At the time the remarks by Mahant Raju Das were reported, there was no immediate response available from Rashid or his representatives regarding the allegations or the demands for legal action.
