The Governor visited the university on Wednesday to review several ongoing initiatives related to research, vocational education and entrepreneurship. During the visit, he inaugurated the Traditional and Technology Interface Learning Lab and officially launched a range of natural skincare products developed by the university. The visit highlighted the institution’s emphasis on creating employment-oriented education while preserving traditional knowledge through modern technological applications.

Governor Appreciates Practical Learning Approach

Addressing the gathering during his visit, Governor Kambhampati praised the university’s efforts to connect classroom education with hands-on training. He noted that students and local communities were receiving practical instruction in traditional weaving techniques while also participating in the production process, allowing them to develop marketable skills alongside academic learning.

According to the Governor, such initiatives demonstrate how educational institutions can contribute to both economic development and community empowerment. He said that integrating vocational training with academic programmes provides learners with better employment opportunities while helping preserve traditional craftsmanship.

Focus on Innovation, Research and Entrepreneurship

The Governor’s visit also included a review of the university’s innovation ecosystem, research projects and entrepreneurship programmes. University officials presented various initiatives designed to encourage students to apply technology in solving real-world challenges while supporting local industries and traditional occupations.

Special attention was given to programmes that combine modern technological tools with indigenous knowledge systems. These initiatives aim to improve productivity, create sustainable livelihoods and encourage innovation without losing the cultural value of traditional practices. The university has been working to develop education models that support both skill enhancement and enterprise development.

Traditional Knowledge Meets Modern Technology

One of the major highlights of the visit was the inauguration of the Traditional and Technology Interface Learning Lab. The facility has been designed to promote collaboration between traditional artisans and technology experts, enabling the development of improved products and production methods.

The Governor observed demonstrations of weaving and other skill-based activities where participants were being trained using modern techniques while preserving traditional craftsmanship. He remarked that this balanced approach offers an effective model that other educational institutions could consider adopting to strengthen skill-based education.

Governor Recently Remembered Gopabandhu Das

The university visit follows another important public engagement by Governor Kambhampati earlier this month, when he paid tribute to renowned freedom fighter and social reformer Utkalmani Pandit Gopabandhu Das on the occasion of his 98th death anniversary.

Speaking at a commemorative programme on July 15, the Governor described Gopabandhu Das as one of the rare leaders whose ideals continue to inspire people across generations. He said that while many historical figures remain associated with a particular era, Gopabandhu Das continues to serve as a timeless symbol of dedication and public service.

Legacy of Service and Education Highlighted

During the memorial event, the Governor reflected on the enduring contributions of Gopabandhu Das to Odisha and the nation. He emphasised that the respected leader chose a life devoted to compassion, courage, education and service rather than personal wealth or material success.

Kambhampati stated that the social reformer’s values continue to influence society and remain relevant in promoting education, character-building and public welfare. He noted that the legacy left behind by Gopabandhu Das continues to inspire citizens to work towards social progress and inclusive development.
