State Coordinates Repatriation Process

The bodies reached Hyderabad’s Rajiv Gandhi International Airport during the early hours after being flown through Mumbai. From the airport, ambulances arranged by the state administration transported the deceased to their respective hometowns. Officials monitored every stage of the operation to ensure the remains were handed over to family members with dignity and without unnecessary delays.

The victims were identified as Sridhar from Kadapa, Jayasri from Machilipatnam, and Raviteja from Hindupur. They were among the Indian tourists who died after a passenger boat overturned near Phu Quoc Island, a popular tourist destination in Vietnam.

Ministers Extend Support to Bereaved Families

Andhra Pradesh MSME Minister Kondapalli Srinivas personally supervised the arrangements at the airport and interacted with the families of the deceased. He expressed condolences on behalf of the state government and assured relatives that all possible assistance would continue to be provided during this difficult period.

The minister said the government acted under the direction of Chief Minister N. Chandrababu Naidu, who instructed officials to coordinate closely with the Indian Embassy in Vietnam, Vietnamese authorities, and the Andhra Pradesh Non-Resident Telugu Society (APNRT). Their combined efforts helped complete the formalities required for the repatriation while also extending support to other Indian passengers affected by the incident.

APNRT to Continue Assisting Telugu Citizens Abroad

Kondapalli Srinivas stated that APNRT would remain committed to helping Telugu citizens facing emergencies in foreign countries. He noted that the organisation has an important role in coordinating with overseas authorities, providing guidance to families, and facilitating assistance whenever Andhra Pradesh residents encounter unforeseen situations outside India.

Officials said such coordination becomes particularly important during accidents or medical emergencies abroad, where documentation and international communication can often delay the return of victims or assistance to survivors.

Funeral Arrangements and Medical Assistance

In Machilipatnam, Minister Kollu Ravindra attended the funeral of victim Gelli Jayalakshmi and personally reviewed the arrangements made for the last rites. He met members of the bereaved family, conveyed his sympathies, and assured them that the state government would continue to stand by them.

The minister also announced that Gelli Kishore, who sustained injuries in the same boat accident, would receive the required medical treatment with government support. Authorities said every effort would be made to ensure proper healthcare and rehabilitation for the injured survivor.

Krishna District Collector D.K. Balaji was also present during the funeral and joined officials in offering condolences to the family.

Government Reaffirms Commitment During Overseas Emergencies

The tragic accident has highlighted the importance of coordinated assistance for citizens travelling abroad. Through the involvement of state officials, diplomatic missions, and APNRT, the Andhra Pradesh government ensured that the victims were brought back to India with respect while extending continued support to affected families and survivors.

Authorities have reiterated that they will remain prepared to respond swiftly whenever residents of the state require assistance during emergencies outside the country, working alongside Indian diplomatic missions and local administrations to provide timely relief.
