Railways – RPF Personnel Suspended After Agra Station Official Assault Allegation

Railways –  A dispute involving railway personnel at Agra Cantt Railway Station has drawn attention after a video of the incident surfaced online, prompting disciplinary action and raising concerns over workplace conduct within Indian Railways.

Agra rpf assault official suspension

The All India Railwaymen’s Federation (AIRF) has strongly criticised the alleged assault on Narendra Singh Chahar, Deputy Station Superintendent at Agra Cantt Railway Station, claiming the incident occurred while he was carrying out official responsibilities related to passenger safety. According to the federation, the officer had temporarily halted a train in the interest of passenger welfare when the disagreement reportedly took place.

Four RPF Personnel Suspended After Video Emerges

Following the circulation of a video on social media, the North Central Railway (NCR) suspended four members of the Railway Protection Force with immediate effect. The suspended personnel include two Assistant Sub-Inspectors. Railway authorities initiated the action after the footage appeared to show RPF staff involved in a physical confrontation with the Deputy Station Superintendent at the station premises.

The railway administration has not yet announced the outcome of any detailed inquiry, but the suspension is considered a preliminary administrative measure while the matter is examined further.

AIRF Calls for Respect Across Railway Departments

Reacting to the development, AIRF General Secretary Shiva Gopal Mishra said every railway employee, regardless of department, is expected to work together with professionalism, mutual respect and effective coordination. He stated that any form of intimidation or physical aggression against an employee performing legitimate duties cannot be accepted and should invite strict disciplinary as well as legal action if the allegations are established.

He further noted that incidents of this nature weaken staff morale and can negatively affect the cooperative working environment that is essential for the safe and efficient functioning of Indian Railways.

Federation Highlights Importance of Passenger Welfare

The federation maintained that railway employees have a responsibility to assist passengers, particularly when matters involve safety or emergency situations. It argued that officials carrying out such responsibilities should receive institutional support rather than face intimidation or disciplinary pressure.

AIRF also said that any action discouraging employees from prioritising passenger welfare could damage confidence among railway staff and reduce public trust in the railway system. The organisation stressed that maintaining coordination between operational and security departments is necessary for ensuring smooth railway operations across the country.

Demand for Independent Examination and Preventive Measures

The federation has appealed to the Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the Railway Board to ensure a fair, detailed and impartial investigation into the incident. AIRF requested that appropriate action be taken against those found responsible if the allegations are confirmed during the inquiry.

In addition, the federation urged the Railway Board to issue fresh guidelines to all Zonal Railways and Production Units aimed at strengthening cooperation between departments. It recommended measures to encourage professional conduct, improve communication among employees and reinforce a culture of mutual respect across the organisation.

The incident has once again highlighted the importance of maintaining discipline and coordination within one of the country’s largest public service networks. Railway authorities are expected to complete the investigation before deciding on any further administrative or legal steps.
