A temporary high-security alert was issued in the national capital after police received information about an alleged plan to blow up the historic Red Fort. Officials confirmed on Saturday that the threat turned out to be a hoax, but not before security teams carried out precautionary checks at the iconic monument. The swift response reflected the standard security protocol followed whenever sensitive public landmarks receive such warnings.
Threat Information Shared Between Police Control Rooms
According to officials, the initial threat call reached the Mumbai Police control room. Considering the seriousness of the message and the importance of the Red Fort, Mumbai Police immediately forwarded the information to their counterparts in Delhi. The alert was then passed to the North District Police, which initiated a coordinated security operation around the monument.
Police personnel conducted detailed verification and inspected the surrounding areas to rule out any possible danger. After completing the examination and gathering preliminary evidence, investigators concluded that the bomb threat was not genuine.
Security Checks Confirm No Danger
Senior police officials stated that extensive verification was carried out immediately after the alert reached Delhi authorities. The inspection did not reveal any suspicious object or security breach at the Red Fort. Once the search operation concluded, officials declared the threat to be a false alarm.
Although the incident caused temporary concern, authorities emphasized that established emergency procedures helped ensure public safety while minimizing disruption around the heritage site.
Investigation Continues to Trace the Caller
Even though the threat proved to be fake, law enforcement agencies have launched an investigation to identify the individual responsible for making the call. Officials are using technical evidence and communication records to determine where the call originated and to establish the identity of the caller.
Police said appropriate legal action will be taken once the investigation reaches a conclusion. Hoax threats are treated seriously because they consume emergency resources and can create unnecessary panic among the public.
Similar False Threat Reported Earlier This Month
The latest incident follows another false security scare involving a major government institution earlier this month. On July 2, the headquarters of the Indian Space Research Organisation (ISRO) in Bengaluru received an email warning of an impending explosion inside the facility.
Security personnel, along with bomb detection and disposal teams, immediately carried out an extensive inspection of the premises. However, no explosive material or suspicious object was found during the search.
Accused in ISRO Email Case Located in Ghaziabad
Following digital analysis and technical tracking, investigators traced the source of the threatening email to Ghaziabad in Uttar Pradesh. The suspect was later taken into custody after coordination between Delhi Police and Bengaluru Police.
During questioning and medical evaluation, authorities found that the accused was reportedly suffering from a mental illness. Police also seized the electronic device allegedly used to send the email, while legal proceedings in the case continue under applicable provisions.
Officials reiterated that every bomb threat, regardless of its authenticity, is investigated with utmost seriousness to safeguard public safety and protect critical national landmarks and institutions from any potential risk.
