Jharkhand – State Advances Mango Exports, Electoral Outreach and AI Planning

Jharkhand – Jharkhand has recorded a new milestone in agricultural exports after premium Amrapali mangoes grown in its tribal regions were shipped to Dubai for the first time. The consignment, facilitated by the Agricultural and Processed Food Products Export Development Authority (APEDA), included two metric tonnes of mangoes sent to the United Arab Emirates.

Tribal women farmers supply Dubai-bound mangoes

The mango shipment was formally flagged off on July 3. The fruit was sourced from three women-led farmer producer companies supported by Palash, the Jharkhand State Livelihood Promotion Society.

The orchards were developed by tribal women farmers under the Birsa Harit Gram Yojana. The programme is being implemented through coordination with the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Act scheme and has received support from the Jharkhand government.

Officials said the export marks an important step for farmers in remote areas, offering them access to international markets and helping strengthen the value of horticultural produce from the state. The initiative is also expected to encourage farmer producer groups to improve grading, packaging and supply-chain practices for overseas buyers.

Election literacy sessions planned across polling stations

In a separate development, the Chief Electoral Office in Jharkhand has announced plans to hold election awareness sessions, known as chunav pathshalas, at polling stations across the state on July 14.

The meetings are being organised during the ongoing Special Intensive Revision exercise, which is focused on updating electoral rolls. The primary objective is to ensure that eligible voters are not left out or removed from the voter list due to incomplete documentation or procedural issues.

Election officials said the sessions will provide residents with information on the revision process, required formalities and the steps involved in correcting or updating voter details. The programme is intended to improve public participation and address questions related to the electoral roll revision.

Government representatives, booth-level officers and booth-level agents are expected to attend the meetings. Officials said the initiative will allow voters to raise concerns directly and receive guidance on completing the necessary procedures.

State outlines digital transformation strategy

Jharkhand has also unveiled a broad digital roadmap aimed at expanding the use of artificial intelligence in public administration and key economic sectors. The plan was announced during the National Stakeholders’ Consultation 2026 at Hotel Taj Palace in New Delhi.

The state government said the roadmap is designed to position Jharkhand as a major destination for public governance-led artificial intelligence initiatives. It proposes the use of AI in sectors including healthcare, education, agriculture, mining, industry and citizen services.

Proposed AI policy focuses on governance and privacy

A key part of the strategy is the proposed Jharkhand Artificial Intelligence Policy 2026–2031. The policy is expected to guide the adoption of AI tools in government departments while setting standards for transparency, accountability and data protection.

The government has indicated that the plan will focus on practical applications that can improve service delivery and support better decision-making. AI-based systems may be used to strengthen access to public services, improve administrative efficiency and support sector-specific planning.

The digital push, estimated at around Rs 1,000 crore, reflects Jharkhand’s effort to build technology-led governance systems while creating opportunities for innovation and investment. Further consultations with industry representatives, technology experts and government agencies are expected as the policy framework moves forward.
