Sunny Deol’s Reserved and Supportive Nature

During an appearance on the dance reality programme India’s Best Dancer, Patel was asked by host Haarsh Limbachiyaa about her experience of working with the two actors. She recalled that Sunny Deol, her co-star in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha, was quiet and somewhat reserved but remained warm and attentive around her.

Patel said Sunny Deol was especially protective during the making of the film. According to her, he would immediately step forward whenever she faced any difficulty on set. She linked that sense of trust and support to the lasting emotional connection audiences still have with Gadar.

Bobby Deol Brought a More Relaxed Energy

Her experience with Bobby Deol on Humraaz was very different, Patel said. While Sunny Deol appeared calm and reserved, Bobby Deol was more outgoing, playful and easy-going during filming.

Patel recalled that Bobby would often make light-hearted remarks before a shot, joking about wanting to finish his card game, return home or take a quick break. She said his relaxed personality made him enjoyable to work with and created a lively atmosphere on the set.

Summing up the contrast, Patel compared the brothers to the North Pole and South Pole, saying their personalities could not be more different despite being part of the same family.

Jaipur Fort Shoot Drew Unexpected Fan Reactions

The actress also shared an incident from the shooting of Humraaz at Jaipur Fort. The film was released in 2002, shortly after the massive success of Gadar, in which Patel played Sakeena opposite Sunny Deol’s character Tara Singh.

During the filming of a climax sequence in which Bobby Deol had to embrace her, members of the crowd reportedly reacted strongly. Patel said several people began shouting that she belonged to Sunny Deol’s character and should not be touched by his younger brother.

The crowd referred to the storyline of Gadar, where Tara Singh brings Sakeena back from Pakistan. Patel said the production team had to explain that the scene was part of another film and that Bobby Deol and Sunny Deol were playing different characters. The sequence was completed after the situation was brought under control without upsetting the gathered fans.

Actress Reflects on Work With the Deol Family

Patel said she has always enjoyed working with the Deol family and continues to value the professional relationships formed through her films with Sunny and Bobby Deol.

She was most recently seen as Sakeena in Gadar 2, which reunited her with Sunny Deol. The sequel became one of the biggest Hindi film successes of 2023 and renewed public interest in the characters first introduced in Gadar: Ek Prem Katha.
