Minority Welfare – Andhra Pradesh Approves Funds for Machilipatnam Development Works
Minority Welfare – Excise Minister Kollu Ravindra has said the Alliance Government remains focused on the welfare, protection and overall progress of minority communities throughout Andhra Pradesh.

The minister made the remarks after the state government cleared Rs 1.21 crore for improvement works at minority religious institutions and Kabristans located within the limits of Machilipatnam Municipal Corporation. The funding has been sanctioned under the 15th Finance Commission.
Funds Cleared for Community Infrastructure
The approved amount will be used to improve facilities at places of worship and burial grounds that have required infrastructure support for several years. Officials are expected to identify priority works and take up the projects in line with local requirements.
Ravindra said development should reach every section of society and that the government is working to ensure that minority communities receive due attention in public welfare programmes. He added that civic infrastructure in religious and community spaces is an important part of inclusive urban development.
Minority Leaders Meet the Minister
A group of minority representatives met the minister at his camp office in Machilipatnam following the release of the funds. The delegation was led by Minority Corporation Director Dr Haseem Beg.
During the meeting, the leaders conveyed their appreciation for the minister’s role in raising the issue with the government and helping secure approval for the proposed development works. They said the allocation would help address several pending needs at minority places of worship and Kabristans in the municipal area.
The representatives also acknowledged the efforts made to identify local concerns before the proposal was submitted for approval. According to them, the funding decision reflects the government’s attention towards improving facilities that are used regularly by members of the community.
Focus on Inclusive Development
The delegation said the Alliance Government has been giving importance to communal harmony while extending welfare and development support across different social groups. They stated that the sanctioned funds for mosques, other places of worship and burial grounds demonstrate an effort to provide equitable assistance.
They further noted that development measures aimed at minority communities can improve access to basic amenities and create better-maintained public spaces. The leaders said such initiatives also help strengthen confidence between local communities and the administration.
Long-Pending Needs in the Constituency
The minority leaders thanked Ravindra for taking a personal interest in infrastructure concerns that had remained unresolved in parts of the Machilipatnam constituency. They said the approval of the grant is expected to provide relief to institutions that have been seeking repairs, upgrades and other essential works.
The minister assured the delegation that the government would continue to consider genuine public needs and support development initiatives without discrimination. He said the administration’s approach is centred on balanced growth, social harmony and better civic facilities for all communities.
The sanctioned projects are likely to move forward after the concerned municipal and departmental authorities finalise the work plans and implementation process.
