Newlywed woman death investigation in Delhi –

Akriti, a resident of Pushp Vihar, was found severely injured after reportedly falling from B-Block of the NDMC flats at Palika Kunj on Saturday. She was taken to the All India Institute of Medical Sciences, where doctors declared her dead on arrival, according to officials.

Marriage Took Place in April

Police said Akriti had married on April 24 this year and worked as a sales executive with a private company. The incident occurred less than three months after her marriage.

Since the death took place within seven years of marriage, authorities have begun the required legal process. The Sub-Divisional Magistrate has been informed and will conduct an inquest into the circumstances of the death, police said.

Police Examine Circumstances of Fall

Investigators are trying to establish how Akriti fell from the third floor and whether any other person was involved. Officials said statements are being collected and evidence from the residential complex is being reviewed as part of the inquiry.

Police have not yet made any conclusion about whether the death was accidental, suicide, or the result of a crime. The investigation remains ongoing.

Family Rejects Suicide Claim

Akriti’s family has disputed any suggestion that she may have taken her own life. Her younger brother alleged that the case was being presented as suicide in an attempt to protect her husband and his relatives.

He said Akriti was responsible and mentally strong, and claimed that she would not have taken such a step. The family has demanded a detailed investigation into the incident.

Allegations of Dowry-Related Harassment

The woman’s relatives have accused her husband and in-laws of repeatedly harassing her over dowry demands after the marriage. They also alleged that she had faced physical assault during the brief period she lived with her husband’s family.

The family has claimed that Akriti’s death was not an accident and alleged that she was killed. These allegations are being examined by police as part of the ongoing probe.

Love-Cum-Arranged Marriage Raises Questions

According to relatives, the marriage was a love-cum-arranged alliance and had taken place around two-and-a-half months before the incident. They said the short duration of the marriage has added to their concerns about the circumstances surrounding her death.

Officials said the SDM inquiry and police investigation will determine the sequence of events leading to the fall. Further action will depend on the findings of the inquest, medical examination, witness accounts, and other evidence collected during the investigation.
