Pahalgam Attack – NIA Names Hafiz Saeed in Supplementary Chargesheet
Pahalgam Attack – The National Investigation Agency has included Lashkar-e-Taiba chief Hafiz Saeed as an accused in a supplementary chargesheet linked to the Pahalgam terror attack. The document was submitted before the special NIA court in Jammu on Monday, expanding the agency’s case over the April 2025 killings.

Charges Filed Against LeT Chief
According to an NIA statement, Saeed has been charged both in his personal capacity and as the head of the banned Lashkar-e-Taiba organisation. The agency has also named The Resistance Front, described as an active proxy of LeT, in connection with the alleged conspiracy.
The charges have been filed under provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, 2023, and the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, 1967. Investigators have accused Saeed of participating in a cross-border conspiracy and waging war against India through terror-related activities.
Supplementary Filing Details Pakistan Link
The supplementary chargesheet follows the agency’s original 1,597-page filing in the case. The NIA said the new submission outlines what it describes as Pakistan’s involvement in the conspiracy, Saeed’s alleged role and evidence gathered during the investigation.
The agency said its findings were based on forensic work, scientific examination, field inquiries and other investigative material collected during the probe. The chargesheet is expected to be examined by the special court as proceedings continue.
Earlier Chargesheet Named Handler and Militants
In its earlier chargesheet filed on December 15, 2025, the NIA named Pakistan-based handler Sajid Jatt as an accused. It also listed three militants who were killed by security forces during Operation Mahadev in July 2025.
Two people arrested in the case were also named in the earlier filing. The NIA had additionally charged the banned LeT/TRF organisation as a legal entity, alleging that it was involved in planning, facilitating and carrying out the attack.
Tourist Attack Triggered Major Investigation
The attack took place in Pahalgam on April 22, 2025, when gunmen opened fire on tourists. Twenty-five tourists and one local resident were killed in the incident, which drew widespread condemnation and prompted a large-scale security response.
An FIR was initially registered at the Pahalgam police station. After preliminary investigation, the Union Home Ministry transferred the case to the NIA for a wider probe into the alleged terror network and its cross-border links.
Probe Continues Into Wider Conspiracy
The NIA said the investigation remains ongoing as it seeks to identify every person and organisation connected to the alleged conspiracy. The agency stated that it is examining the role of Pakistan-based operatives and networks accused of supporting terrorism in India.
The supplementary chargesheet marks a further step in the investigation, though the case is expected to continue as authorities assess additional evidence and pursue remaining leads.
