Aurangabad Accident – Two teenage schoolgirls lost their lives in a road accident near Bhatari Mod in Bihar’s Aurangabad district on Thursday morning. The girls were returning home from coaching classes on bicycles when an SUV allegedly went out of control and struck them, police officials said.

Victims Were Cousins From Naraula Village

The deceased were identified as 15-year-old Afsari, daughter of Mohammad Riyazuddin, and Ashiya, also 15, daughter of Rustam Ali. Both girls lived in Naraula village, which falls under the Obra police station jurisdiction. Family members said the two were cousins and had attended coaching classes before the accident.

SUV Reportedly Hit Electric Pole Before Collision

Initial police findings indicate that the Scorpio SUV first crashed into an electric pole beside the road near Bhatari Mod. After the impact, the driver reportedly lost control of the vehicle and rammed into the girls, who were riding bicycles along the route.

The force of the collision left both students seriously injured. Residents from nearby villages rushed to the scene and arranged for them to be taken to a hospital. Doctors, however, declared both girls dead after they arrived.

Driver Leaves Scene After Fatal Crash

Police said the driver abandoned the vehicle or fled from the location soon after the accident. Efforts are under way to identify and arrest the person responsible for the crash.

Investigators are also checking CCTV cameras installed in nearby areas to track the Scorpio’s route and determine who was driving it at the time. Officials said the footage may help establish the sequence of events leading to the accident.

Villagers Block Obra-Pauthu Road in Protest

News of the deaths triggered anger and grief in the area. Relatives of the victims and local residents blocked the Obra-Pauthu road near Bhatari Mod, disrupting traffic for several hours.

The protesters sought the immediate arrest of the driver and compensation for the families of the deceased girls. They also called for stronger road safety arrangements at the location, where they said vehicles often move at high speed.

Police personnel reached the spot after receiving information about the protest. Officials spoke with the family members and local residents in an effort to restore traffic movement and maintain order.

FIR Registered, Investigation Continues

An FIR has been registered at Pauthu Police Station in connection with the case. The complaint includes provisions related to rash and negligent driving resulting in death, police said.

Authorities are examining evidence from the accident site, including the damaged electric pole, the bicycles and the SUV involved in the collision. Statements from witnesses are also being recorded as part of the investigation.

The deaths of the two teenagers have brought renewed attention to traffic safety on the Obra-Pauthu route. Residents have urged the administration to consider speed-control measures, improved signage and closer monitoring of vehicles passing through populated stretches of the road.

Police said further action would be taken after the driver is traced and the investigation is completed.
