UPTET – Lucknow Reviews Security Measures at 46 Examination Centres
UPTET – Lucknow District Magistrate Vishak G Iyer and Joint Police Commissioner (Law and Order) Bablu Kumar inspected multiple examination centres in the city on Thursday as the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test began. The visit was aimed at checking security, candidate management and administrative preparedness at venues hosting the state-level examination.

Three-Day Examination Schedule Begins
The UPTET is being conducted in Lucknow on July 2, 3 and 4. Officials said 46 examination centres have been designated across the city for the three-day process, with nearly 76,000 candidates expected to appear in different shifts.
During the inspection, the District Magistrate reviewed entry arrangements, seating systems, availability of staff and monitoring mechanisms at the centres. He said the administration had completed the preparations in line with instructions issued by the examination commission.
“The examination is scheduled over three days at 46 centres in Lucknow district. Around 76,000 candidates will take part during this period,” Iyer said. “Necessary arrangements have been made at every location, and the examination is being conducted smoothly.”
Multi-Level Monitoring at Every Venue
The district administration has introduced a layered supervision system to protect the integrity of the examination. Sector magistrates, static magistrates and examination personnel have been assigned responsibilities at different levels to ensure that procedures are followed throughout the day.
CCTV cameras have also been installed at all centres to keep watch on examination-related activity. Officials said the surveillance system is intended to support on-ground monitoring and help authorities respond quickly if any irregularity is noticed.
The administration has also instructed centre managers and staff to follow prescribed protocols for candidate entry, verification and handling of examination material. The inspection by senior officers was part of the wider monitoring exercise planned during the examination period.
Police Deployment Strengthened for UPTET
Joint Police Commissioner Bablu Kumar said a substantial police presence had been arranged at all 46 centres in Lucknow. The first shift of the examination started at 9.30 am on Thursday, with police teams positioned to manage crowds, maintain order and support the examination authorities.
Police personnel led by sub-inspectors have been deployed at each venue. Their duties include regulating entry points, assisting with security checks and ensuring that the examination proceeds without disruption.
Kumar said the arrangements cover all three days of the UPTET examination. Security personnel have been directed to remain alert around centre premises and coordinate with administrative officers where required.
Confidential Material Transport Under Police Escort
Special arrangements were made for the movement of confidential examination papers and other sensitive material. According to Kumar, two police personnel were assigned with every sector magistrate responsible for carrying material from the treasury to the respective examination centres.
The police escort system was introduced to ensure secure transportation and prevent any unauthorised access to examination documents. Officials said the process was carried out under established security procedures before the beginning of each shift.
Candidates were allowed inside only after identity verification and frisking at the entry gates. Kumar said the District Magistrate and police officials were personally visiting centres to assess the situation and confirm that the arrangements were being implemented properly.
“No issue has been reported so far, and the examination has begun as scheduled,” he said during the inspection.
Role of the Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test
The Uttar Pradesh Teacher Eligibility Test is conducted to assess whether candidates meet the eligibility requirements for teaching positions in primary and upper primary schools in the state. Qualifying the examination is an important requirement for applicants seeking teaching appointments under the relevant recruitment rules.
With a large number of candidates appearing in Lucknow, the district administration and police have focused on coordinated supervision, secure material handling and orderly conduct at examination centres. Authorities are expected to continue inspections and monitoring during the remaining examination days
