Governance – Prime Minister Narendra Modi urged senior government officials to work with stronger coordination across ministries, stressing that reforms should translate into visible improvements for citizens within defined timelines.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi chaired an extensive review meeting on Tuesday with secretaries from various Central government ministries, highlighting the importance of adopting a unified approach across departments to ensure faster execution of policies and achievement of national priorities. The nearly four-hour session, held at Seva Teerth, focused on reviewing the government’s reform agenda and evaluating the preparedness of ministries to implement key initiatives effectively.

Review Focused on Coordination Across Ministries

The meeting was attended by around 80 secretaries representing different Central government departments. According to official sources, every secretary presented updates on the progress of their respective ministries, while Cabinet Secretary T. V. Somanathan coordinated the discussions and guided the agenda throughout the review.

During the interaction, the Prime Minister underlined the importance of eliminating barriers between departments. He said stronger collaboration, better planning, and transparent implementation would help deliver public services more efficiently and improve the overall effectiveness of government programmes.

Emphasis on Reform and Better Governance

Sources familiar with the meeting said discussions mainly revolved around two broad themes. The first focused on deregulation and reforms aimed at improving both the ease of doing business and the ease of living. The second concentrated on strengthening Aatmanirbharta as part of India’s long-term vision of becoming a developed nation under the Viksit Bharat 2047 roadmap.

Officials from different ministries explained the major initiatives currently being implemented in line with these priorities. They also shared updates on future plans designed to improve governance, simplify administrative processes, and strengthen service delivery for citizens.

PM GatiShakti Highlighted for Integrated Planning

Prime Minister Modi encouraged ministries to make greater use of the PM GatiShakti platform for improving coordination among departments. He said integrated planning supported by shared data and better communication can help policymakers make informed decisions while reducing delays in project execution.

According to sources, the discussions also covered sector-specific challenges, with ministries outlining practical strategies to overcome implementation hurdles and enhance administrative efficiency. Officials reviewed how ongoing reforms could be strengthened through improved coordination and timely execution.

Focus on Tangible Results for Citizens

During the meeting, the Prime Minister reportedly stressed that every reform initiative should ultimately create measurable benefits in the daily lives of people. He emphasised that government programmes must be carefully planned, regularly monitored, and assessed on the basis of their real-world impact rather than only administrative progress.

He also called for consistent review mechanisms to ensure that ministries remain accountable for achieving targets within scheduled timelines. Officials discussed ways to improve monitoring systems so that policy outcomes can be evaluated more effectively.

Technology and Long-Term Development Agenda

Sources said the meeting also included discussions on the growing role of artificial intelligence and other technology-driven governance tools that can support efficient administration and improve public service delivery.

The Prime Minister has repeatedly stated that India should achieve developed nation status by 2047, marking the centenary of Independence. In line with that vision, the government continues to place significant emphasis on structural reforms, improved governance, and coordinated implementation across ministries. Tuesday’s review meeting served as another step in assessing the progress of these priorities while identifying areas where greater cooperation and faster execution can help achieve long-term national objectives.
