Four Indian Firms Cleared From US Sanctions List

The decision was announced by the US Department of the Treasury, which confirmed that the four companies have been taken off the Office of Foreign Assets Control (OFAC) Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons (SDN) List. Their removal means the sanctions previously imposed by the United States are no longer in effect for these businesses.

The companies affected by the latest decision are Hyderabad-based RRG Engineering Technologies Pvt. Ltd. and Lokesh Machines Ltd., Ahmedabad-based Galaxy Bearings Ltd., and New Delhi-based Shaurya Aeronautics Pvt. Ltd. All four had been placed under US sanctions over separate allegations connected to exports that were believed to support Russian industries.

Earlier Allegations Against Galaxy Bearings

Galaxy Bearings Ltd. was added to the sanctions list in October 2024. US authorities had alleged that the company exported high-priority dual-use products, including roller bearings and roller assemblies, to organizations operating in Russia. Dual-use items are products that may have both civilian and military applications, making them subject to increased scrutiny under international export controls.

Claims Related to Shaurya Aeronautics

Shaurya Aeronautics Pvt. Ltd. had also faced restrictions after being accused of supplying equipment such as radar systems, radio navigation devices, remote-control apparatus, and other electrical components to Russian entities. These allegations formed the basis of the sanctions imposed by the United States at the time.

Accusations Against RRG Engineering Technologies and Lokesh Machines

RRG Engineering Technologies Pvt. Ltd. was previously accused of exporting more than 100 consignments of microelectronics to Arteks Limited Company, a Russia-based organization that had already been placed under US sanctions. Officials had claimed that these shipments contributed to Russia’s access to sensitive electronic components.

Lokesh Machines Ltd. was sanctioned over allegations that it supplied machine tools to several Russian manufacturing companies. According to earlier US claims, such equipment could potentially support industrial production linked to Russia’s broader manufacturing capabilities.

Treasury Gives No Reason for Policy Change

While confirming the removal of all four Indian companies from the sanctions register, the US Department of the Treasury did not disclose the reasons behind its latest decision. The announcement did not include any explanation regarding the review process, the evidence considered, or whether the companies had met specific conditions leading to their delisting.

The development represents an important update in the administration of US sanctions involving international businesses. However, in the absence of additional details from the Treasury Department, the circumstances behind the reversal remain undisclosed. The official notification only confirms that the four Indian firms are no longer listed on the OFAC Specially Designated Nationals and Blocked Persons register.
