Crime – Delhi Police Arrest Man Accused of Killing Wife in Karkardooma Village
Crime – Police have arrested a 35-year-old man accused of killing his wife in east Delhi after allegedly suspecting her of being involved in an extramarital relationship. Investigators say the incident took place in Karkardooma Village, where the woman had been staying with relatives for the past several days.
The victim, identified as 30-year-old Sonam Joshi, was reportedly sleeping at her sister-in-law’s residence when the attack occurred in the early hours of Sunday. According to police, a PCR call alerted Anand Vihar police to a woman lying unconscious in a room surrounded by blood. Officers rushed to the location and found Sonam with multiple stab wounds. She was declared dead, and the body was later sent for a post-mortem examination.
Investigation Reveals Planned Journey
Police identified the accused as Anuj Joshi, the victim’s husband. During the investigation, officials gathered evidence suggesting that he had travelled from Lucknow to Delhi before the incident. According to investigators, he allegedly bought a knife in Lucknow and boarded a bus to the national capital with the weapon.
Preliminary findings indicate that the accused reached the house at around 5:40 a.m. Police believe he entered the residence while Sonam was asleep and carried out the fatal attack. After the incident, he allegedly concealed the knife inside a plastic bag within the room before leaving the scene.
Forensic Team Collects Evidence
Soon after the crime was reported, forensic specialists and the Crime Team examined the house to document the scene and collect material evidence. Officers from the Forensic Science Laboratory also participated in the investigation, gathering samples that will be examined as part of the ongoing case.
The post-mortem examination is expected to provide additional details regarding the nature of the injuries and help investigators establish the sequence of events.
Suspect Taken Into Custody
Police said Anuj Joshi was later traced and taken into custody with assistance from family members and local residents. Authorities confirmed that he is currently being questioned as investigators continue to examine the circumstances surrounding the case.
Deputy Commissioner of Police (Shahdara), Rajendra Prasad Meena, stated that the accused operates an ice cream cart in Lucknow. Officials are continuing their investigation to verify all aspects of the incident and determine whether any additional evidence or witnesses may be relevant to the case.

Investigators are examining the sequence of events leading up to the alleged murder, including the motive behind the crime. According to the initial findings, suspicion of an extramarital affair appears to have been a significant factor in the case.
