NEET Result – NTA Faces Massive Answer Key Review Ahead of July 20 Score Release
NEET Result – The National Testing Agency is working on an extensive review process before announcing the NEET-UG 2026 retest results, with officials aiming to publish the outcome by July 20 despite receiving a large number of objections to the provisional answer key.

The National Testing Agency (NTA) is moving ahead with preparations to announce the NEET-UG 2026 retest results by the scheduled deadline of July 20. However, the agency is currently focused on examining more than 10,000 objections submitted by candidates after the release of the provisional answer key. Officials familiar with the process said the review of these challenges has become the immediate priority before the final answer key and results can be published.
Thousands of Objections Under Detailed Examination
According to officials, each challenge submitted by students must be reviewed individually. The agency is required to study the explanation provided by candidates, verify any supporting documents or references, and determine whether corrections are necessary. Since many candidates have raised objections to multiple questions, the verification exercise has grown significantly in scale.
The provisional answer key was released on June 25, giving candidates until 11:50 pm on June 28 to submit their objections. Students were required to pay a fee of ₹200 for every question challenged. The amount will be refunded if the objection is accepted after expert evaluation.
More Than 20 Lakh Candidates Await Final Results
The NEET-UG 2026 retest was conducted on June 21 at 5,440 examination centres across India, along with 14 overseas centres. More than 20 lakh candidates appeared for the examination, making it one of the country’s largest entrance tests.
The retest became necessary after the cancellation of the original examination held on May 3. Since then, students have been waiting for a fresh evaluation process and the declaration of revised results, making the upcoming announcement highly significant for medical admissions across the country.
Confidential Evaluation Process in Place
Officials said a dedicated and confidential team has been assigned to handle the answer sheet evaluation and related procedures. While specific operational details have not been disclosed, the agency indicated that strict confidentiality is being maintained throughout the assessment process.
To ensure security and transparency, surveillance measures similar to those used during the examination have been put in place. These include CCTV coverage and centralized monitoring systems. Officials also stated that members of the evaluation team are working extended hours to complete the review within the scheduled timeline.
Court Extends Custody in Paper Leak Investigation
Meanwhile, the investigation into the alleged NEET-UG 2026 paper leak continues. A Delhi court has extended the judicial custody of 10 individuals arrested in connection with the case until July 11 after considering a request made by the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) for additional time to continue its probe.
The court also noted that three other accused persons remain in judicial custody until July 8. The investigation is continuing as authorities examine the circumstances surrounding the alleged irregularities linked to the examination.
With the answer key review now underway and legal proceedings continuing separately, students across the country are waiting for the final answer key and the official declaration of NEET-UG 2026 retest results expected later this month.
