President Droupadi Murmu holds a significant place in India’s constitutional history. She became the 15th President of India after assuming office on July 25, 2022. Her election marked a historic milestone as she became the first tribal woman to occupy the country’s highest constitutional position. She is also among the youngest individuals to have held the office.
Before entering Rashtrapati Bhavan, Murmu served as the Governor of Jharkhand from 2015 to 2021. Her tenure was widely noted for its focus on public welfare and administrative responsibility.

Born on June 20, 1958, in Uparbeda village of Odisha’s Mayurbhanj district, President Murmu comes from a Santhal tribal family. Her early years were shaped by limited resources and social challenges, making her rise to the nation’s highest office particularly remarkable.
She began her education in a village school and later pursued higher studies in Bhubaneswar. In doing so, she became the first girl from her village to clear the matriculation examination and obtain a college degree, setting an example for future generations.
